GameStop to Stop Accepting Original Xbox Trades
Posted by Adam Larck on 01.05.2009
Feb. 9 is the last day gamers will be able to trade in Xbox games, accessories and systems.
It seems that GameStop knows when a system is good and gone. As of Feb. 9, the company will no longer accept trade-ins of any original Xbox game, accessory or even the system. This news comes after an internal memo was sent out earlier last week. The company seems like they will continue to sell what stock they have until it is gone, however.
Signs have also been sent out to all stores to post word of this news. It's surprising that it took this long, though, as sales of the Xbox 360 passed original Xbox sales in November and most major stores have already taken original Xbox stock off of their shelves.
Did they do this for Gamecube yet? I still have a few that could use a good trading in...

I don't think so. I traded in a bunch of GC games a few months ago. Plus, they still have racks and racks of the things.

GameStop still takes GameCube games and accessories. The Wii being the only system with real backwards compatibility I don't they'll ditch their GC stock anytime soon. Random Cube games are still overpriced though...

Be nice if they dropped the prices in turn.
And I doubt GameCube's to follow; full Wii compatibility + Nintendo character power should keep that going for a while longer yet.

Whew! Luckily if cashed in last month and got 5 CENTS for NFL Blitz 2003 & 25 CENTS for Amped 2! I can see why they can't afford to be paying out these type of trade values! Then the go and sell it for 3.99-4.99. Hell, they're still selling some used xbox games for 17.99
