2K Sports today announced that they are developing Don King Boxing for both the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. The Wii version will use both the nunchuck and Wii remote for punching while the Wii balance board, which is optional, can be used to dodge punches. On top of that, there will be a Boxercise mode that allows players to use their board for a workout which also affects the fighter's stats in the game.
"Don King Boxing is not your prototypical boxing game," Don King said. "What we have done here is truly innovative and provocative. Our goal with 2K Sports was to create realistic motions that most closely resemble the actual training regimens of prizefighters for maximum results."
King added, "We've created our best set of real-life boxing exercises ever for Don King Boxing. It wouldn't surprise me if a future world champion was introduced to the sport through this game. This is where you can get the skills that make for thrills."
The game will feature over 20 licensed fighters including real venues such as Madison Square Garden, the Trump Taj Mahal and Boardwalk Hall. Both Wii and DS versions are slated for a March 31 release.
We'll have full impressions of the 2K China developed game sometime in March. Meanwhile, you can also check out the first screens in the gallery below.
