Nintendo dominates the top 5!
According to the latest Top Global Markets report, Mario Kart Wii sold 8.94 million copies worldwide, making it the best selling game worldwide. The report, which took data from the three largest gaming markets, showed that it sold almost 5 million copies in North America, and 2 million apiece in Japan and the United Kingdom.
Nintendo also had two other entries in the top 10. Wii Fit came in second, selling 8.31 million worldwide. Super Smash Brothers Brawl came in fourth, selling 6.3 million, even though it only sold 404,000 in the United Kingdom.
The full list according to Chart Track, Media Create, and the NPD Group:
(US/JP/UK)

AHA!
PROOF that Nintendo continuing to cater to the casual gaming market is not only the cause of the PS3's current surge in sales, but the end of the Wii. The people are finally realizing that the Wii is just a flash in the pan novelty that had no chance against REAL systems.
Now that nintendo sees that "casual" games that are "fun" and "different" have no place in the minds of gamers, maybe they can release titles for HARDCORE gamers. Something REALLY cool and HARDCORE with a title like "battlesuit gun commando" or "generic space marine action". Those would be real games for hardcore gamers.

i just wish that nintendo would just release something worth playing. its been almost a year since the last good game was released. its starting to be worse than the gamecubes spotty release calendar. hardcore or casual, microsoft & sony are at least giving gamers quality gaming on a regular basis.

Considering Call Of Duty: World At War didn't come out until November, and STILL sold almost 6 million copies, is insane.

Why are there so many Wii haters out there? This reminds me of "MMA vs. Boxing" debates out there. Nintendo is the first to evolve away from the traditional gamepad and to deliver a true "next generation" gaming IMO, and have effectively put an arcade machine in my living room.
If you're a traditionalist, you can always play PS3 or XBox, or dust off your Sega Master System. No one playing the Wii will ever bitch about traditionalists. Don't hate just because more people are enjoying a new form of gaming. You have as much right to hate on the Wii as Boxing fans have right to hate on MMA.

The Wii is in a different class than the XB360 and PS3. Technologically, they're behind, sure, but they're still raking in money, hand over fist.
Everyone I know has a Wii AND either a PS3 or a XB360 (the far, far majority having 360s, of course).

I'd still rather play the "generic space marine shooter" than "teenaged Asian kid's favorite frou-frou minigame bonanza." And I don't really care whatever everyone else thinks about that.
Call it a matter of taste, I guess.
