Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - Single Player (Xbox 360, PS3) Preview

Multiplayer looks pretty awesome but what about that single player campaign? We take it for a spin and give you our thoughts!
Recently we had a chance to get a little taste of the single player campaign of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 while in San Francisco. The last time we saw BFBC2, our own Armando Rodriguez was digging into the private beta and he seemingly came away impressed with multiplayer. Now with single player in tow, we sat back and entered the trenches with our Bad Company protagonist Preston Marlow.
In our brief preview, we entered a jungle somewhere in South America where we looked for a shady individual who just happened to have some information that we needed. You see the Russians are up to no damn good as they are using some scalar generator prototype to build a weapon of mass destruction not unlike the kind we didn't find in Iraq, but I digress. Needless to say we want to get to the bottom of things which leads us to the aforementioned jungle. While coming down a steep hill we finally got within range to start laying down the fire. I was impressed to see how smart the A.I. appeared as they quickly took cover and likewise attempted to get rid of any cover we may have found due to the destructible environments, by mowing us down with heavy fire.
I must say that the game's Frostbite Engine really shined as buildings realistically broke down and/or collapsed when pushing through which made it all the more enjoyable to blow stuff up.
After attaining our goal of capturing the man with the ever important information, we got a chance to hop on a helicopter as we mowed enemies down with the gun on board. Though we love our ground game in FPS games, there's nothing quite like taking to the skies and this was no different. Finally we needed to find an area where a satellite has just recently crashed and so we made our way onto a jeep where the action got a little more heated. We needed to flee the scene while our partner fired away on the turret and we focused on the driving while occasionally dumping off a grenade or two, or three to keep our followers at bay…and just like that it was a wrap!
The taste we received from the single player was pretty impressive and definitely a blast to play. Multiplayer is where it's at but this was no afterthought and we eagerly await the chance to play a few more levels before the game's release in March.
Just a question for anyone... should I go console with this game or go after the PC version. I still cant decide.

I've always been a huge fan of BF on the PC, particularly BF2 but I may give the PS3 version a shot. I need a shooter for it as MW2 took over my 360.

I also tried multiplayer about two months ago on the PS3 and the Xbox 360 and was quite impressed.

Not old enough to make up your own mind?

Not old enough to give him a constructive answer?
For me the PS3 version is the choice, i`ve played both PC and PS3 betas but I prefer the experience on the PS3. I can sit on my living room sofa with big flatscreen tv and 7.1 surround sound plus I have all my friends on the PS3 playing the same game. Only good things about the PC are more players in teams and more accurate controls.
