Street Fighter X Tekken Preview (PS3, Xbox 360, PS Vita)
Posted by John De Large on 07.07.2011

Another game I got to go hands on with at Capcom in NYC was Street Fighter X Tekken. I had previously though it could only be played on the upcoming Vita, but here I am playing it on a big screen with joysticks! You know you want a breakdown of this game, so here it comes:

THE FACTS
Well, it's Street Fighter…. versus Tekken. Though it is pronounced Street Fighter CROSS Tekken.

Battles are fought tag style and players can start a combo with one character, juggle the opponent into the air, then have their partner run in and finish the combo OR juggle back to the original character. This game is as insane as it sounds and it's so easy to play too.

THE PLAY TEST
Capcom's Seth Killian got me and GG set up with some joysticks, characters (Ryu and Ken for me, Chun Li and Julia for GG) and explained the six button layout, before taking off to handle important Capcom related matters. GG and I freestyled a bit, made our own combos up and punched and kicked each other in the face for about 15-20 minutes.

At no point did either of us relent in hitting each other and no point did I stop trying to think up ways to pummel my beautiful assistant. I strung together light, medium and fierce punch as Ryu, kicked GG into the sky, switched to Ken and finished with a medium kick into Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku (or the Hurricane Kick if you like). I couldn't figure out how to hook off any hyper combos, but I did discover that EX moves made it into the game (Shakunetsu! 2 hits!), so gamers can rejoice! I know I did.

THE VERDICT
Street Fighter X Tekken was a lot of fun and easy to pick up and play. I don't know if it'll be more fun than MVC3, but I'm down for another Capcom fighting game! Pick it up for Xbox 360, PS3 and PS Vita when it comes out in the first quarter of 2012!

That last picture, what the hell is wrong with Cammy's body? She looks weird and she has no ass whatsoever lol. I'm still on the fence about this game, although, I believe that Tekken Tag was the best version of this series...

Why does it have the same ugly graphics from SF4? I was hoping they'd go the Tekken route, instead they just made everything ugly.

If you were hoping they'd go the Tekken route, wait for Tekken X Street Figther instead.

Since Capcom is developing, they were obviously going to go the SF4 route. Street Fighter guys just don't work with fully 3D gameplay like Tekken. Look at Street Fighter EX and how much they sucked.

I'm fairly sure that, if they'd tried really hard, they could've found two games that were more different. What's next? F1 2010 X Duke Nukem 3D? Mario Kart X Tomb Raider?
