Halo 3. Those simple words strike fear into the hearts of Sony fanboys across the world. The game is scheduled for a 2007 release date, so it's still a ways off. Recently, news has been leaking out into the Internet and gobbled up by Halo fanatics. Here, I'll be giving a rundown of what we know. This information has been confirmed by the Swedish Magazine LEVEL, The French OXM, the Japanese Magazine Famitsu, and IGN.com.
What We Know
Halo 3 will come in three different SKU's. A regular edition, a collector's edition, and the ultra-awesome Legendary Edition. Of course, the regular edition will be bare bones in terms of extra content, meaning the game only. However, the Legendary Edition will include four extra DVD's filled with bonus content. Also, it will come with a special SPARTAN-II helmet replica.

One can only imagine the number of people who will be wearing these helmets while playing Uno on Live.
Next, we have the addition of some new weapons and vehicles. First, some of the new weapons confirmed so far are the Spartan Laser and the Spike Grenade. the Spartan Laser is rumored to be a sort of anti-vehicle weapon. Also the Spike Grenade, which is said to release nails and spikes into the air.

A new addition to the vehicle family is the Mongoose. This vehicle was supposed to be in Halo 2, but ended up being taken out. Luckily, it makes its return in Halo 3. This vehicle has no weapon attachment (yet) and holds two riders. This vehicle is primarily for quick runs, such as retrieving the flag.

Also, weapons will be viewable at all times. This means we no longer need to ask "Who has the rocket launcher?". Weapons will appear on the players back, as well as leg attachment.
Secondary weapons now appear on the players back.
There has also been mention of a "Man Cannon" which will launch players high into the air and across the map. Players are still able to fire weapons, as well as be fired at.
Next, new levels appear in Halo 3. One level is said to be the next "Blood Gulch" and is named "Valhalla". Expect this to be a large map with a lot of vehicle action. Also, mutliplayer is said to be a maximum of 16 players, despite the previously rumored 40 players.
Perhaps the most surprising and exciting announcement is the ability to record 10-30 seconds of game play to show off on Xbox Live
