Far Cry Vengeance (Wii) Preview

Red Steel has some competition!
Far Cry Vengeance will be the Wii's second first person shooter. The game is a direct port of the Xbox's Far Cry Instincts Evolution with three new levels and added Wii specific controls. Let's see how this game is shaping up to be.
Besides the three new levels, Far Cry Vengeance promises a handful of new weapons and vehicles including a Jeep Patriot. But outside of this new features, everything else will be the same as the Xbox version, as the developers have made a great job in incorporating the three new levels into the game's single player narrative. The biggest draw for the game will be the new Wii specific controls. You move around the environment using the nunchuck's joystick. To jump you sharply pull the remote upwards. Melee attacks are handled by doing slashing motions, like in Zelda, while zooming in for better aim is done in a way reminiscent to Red Steel, by thrusting the remote forward. Quick taps of the D-Pad will make you go from standing up, to crouch; to prone and back up again. And in a nice touch, even with only one crosshair in the screen, you independently fire dual weapons by using the trigger buttons on the remote and nunchuck respectively. Yes, you can dual wield a series of pistols, machine guns and even the shotgun for more firepower. The system for hand grenades is far more complex, requiring you to hold down the remote's trigger button to simulate taking out the pin and then doing a throwing motion to send them flying. It requires a lot of practice to properly learn how to use them effectively.
That is as much info as we have managed to dig up on this game. The game will be released in the next few weeks, so stay tuned for a review.
