Sonic and the Secret Rings, which is scheduled for release on February 27, is looking to go back to its roots.

The game will be more of an "on-rails" type experience which means no clunky camera work. After spending a few minutes looking at the game, it's clear that this is not the same type of experience that players have been accustomed to in recent years.

This new Sonic adventure is all about speed. Players will use the remote to move Sonic from left to right as he flies throw the different levels. A new feature is the RPG-style addition of Sonic to gain new abilities by gaining points and medals that will allow him to do things like slowing down time, to pulling off special moves in mid-air. There are no secondary characters as it will be all about Sonic this time around.

There are roughly eight different stages with about 12 missions in each one. Looks like there will be plenty of alternate routes and hidden objects as in the old days of Sonic on the Genesis.

Let's hope that Sonic can regain some of its luster from years past with this new adventure that gets back to basics and brings with it some new elements.

Stay tuned for the full review in a few weeks time.
