Super Paper Mario (Wii) Preview

Release Date 10/09/2006

At GDC last month, I had a chance to spend some time with Super Paper Mario. Though the game is the next iteration of the Mario RPG franchise, the game actually moves away slightly from the other Paper Mario games. While the last couple of games have been mainly RPG based with a few platformer actions, Super Paper Mario will flip these two genres. The game is mostly old school platforming with some RPG elements. As you play through the game, you will see everything from a 2-D perspective. However, as you come across certain obstacles that seem impossible to pass, you can hit the A-button to switch into a 3-D view.

With the game set to come out shortly, it will no doubt join a long list of awesome Mario games. Time will tell if players agree with that statement.
