Preview: Mortal Kombat Armegeddon (Wii)
Posted by Jay Bryant on 04.19.2007

Kombatants unite on the Wii! On May 15th Midway is releasing Mortal Kombat Armageddon on the Wii. The Wii version comes months after the initial release of the seventh entry of the Mortal Kombat series on Xbox and Playstation 2. As expected the Wii version of the game will be set apart by its controls.

Special attacks as well as the new "Create-A-Fatality" are both handled with motions with the Wiimote. This control scheme could easily get old, but after watching some of the early tutorial videos, I don't believe it will. None of the motions are overly done, so things look to go pretty smoothly.

For those of you who do find yourself tired of moving you arms around, Armageddon gives the option of plugging in an old Gamecube controller, or you can stay (slightly) wireless with the classic controller.

Armageddon also features a "Create-A-Fighter" mode, a brand new conquest mode, a four-player racing mini-game, and most importantly, Armageddon boast a huge 64 character roster! All of your favorites from the past are back again, and thirsty for blood. Midway appears to have its first winner on the Wii. Come May 15th, we'll know for sure. Until then, check out these screens!
