Roogoo (Xbox Live Arcade) Preview
Posted by Ramon Aranda on 02.29.2008

SystemXbox 360 (XBLA), PC
Release Date 04/15/2008

I recently had some time to check out Roogoo for the Xbox Live Arcade at Sandbox in San Francisco. At the time it had not yet been announced so I couldn't give my impressions but now the lid has been removed from the jar and I can tell you what I saw.

Roogoo is a puzzler game first and foremost. By looking at the screenshot above, you can see that it's a 3-dimensional puzzle game in which you control these platforms by rotation them left to right. The platforms all have a certain number of holes in them that correspond to particular types of pieces. These pieces will fall from the top at various speeds which you control but you have no say as to when the pieces actually begin their free fall. Once the pieces begin their downward ascension, you must rotate the platform(s) to make sure that the pieces fall through the appropriate holes (ie. Rotate it so that triangle piece falls through the triangle hole).

I was also shown a few different levels and I can tell you that the game gets pretty difficult the longer you play. Pieces fall down faster, and you'll end up with more one platform at a time so you've got to start rotating like nobody's business.

The game looks like it can be quite addictive but we'll have to wait and see until its Spring 2008 release for our final verdict on this fast action puzzler.

Roogoo will also be available for the PC.
