Product Review: INNEX Accessories - Buckshot Lock 'N Load Lightgun
Posted by John De Large on 10.13.2009

With Zombieland and Inglourious Basterds making a killing at the box office, you can't help but watch and wish you could shoot the heads off zombies and Nazi's. Thanks to Wii-based rail shooters, you can realize fantasies like the aforementioned quite easily, but chances are that you'll get tired of using your remote and nun chuck or your Wii Zapper. Those products are fine (and necessary in the case of the former two) but sometimes you want that real arcade feel or maybe you just want to look like a bad-ass gunslinger. If this sounds like you, INNEX has you covered.

With INNEX's new Buckshot lightgun for the Wii, they've rolled the fun of an arcade game and the glamor of a big name movie shoot 'em up into one for a gaming experience that lets you feel like you're in the middle of a Death Wish movie. Simply take your Wii Remote and slide it into the top of barrel of the gun, adjust two switches on the side and you're ready to go!

The Buckshot handles comfortably with two hands, you can fire from the hip or you can score headshots using the gun's built in bead at the end of the barrel. There's no lag time between the time you pull the trigger and the moment someone's head leaves their shoulders and reloading is easy (just pump the fore-end)! If you're feeling adventurous, go ahead do the Sarah Connor in Terminator 2 one handed reload.

The gun is great, but you might have trouble remembering to squeeze the trigger or pump the end in lieu of pressing a button. If you're playing Umbrella Chronicles, you will be guaranteed to fail a quick time event the first go-around like I did, fumbling for the right combination of buttons. Also, aiming is pretty precise, but it requires much more control to keep the on screen cross hairs in place. Chances are if you're older than 16, you'll adapt pretty quickly, but some younger players might have a problem with this.

PLAY LIST
Here's what I liked to pop in my Wii while having my Buckshot equipped:

Ghost Squad
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
House Of The Dead 2 and 3 Return
House Of The Dead Overkill

THE 411
The Buckshot Lock 'N Load is great! It's a lot cooler looking than the Wii Zapper and it delivers performance and pixelated violence on demand! The gun adds a little bit of a challenge to shooting games and best of all it lets you live out those action movie moments (and don't lie, you've had 'em, I've had 'em, we've all had 'em!).
