Groovin' Blocks (iPhone) Review
Posted by Joshua Richey on 11.01.2009

Title: Groovin' Blocks
Publisher: Zoo Publishing
Developer: Empty Clip Studios
Players: 1
Genre: Music/Rhythm, Puzzle
Rated: 4+

Groovin' Blocks is the same puzzle game that we've been playing for over 20 years now. It's that Tetris, Dr. Mario, Columns-type of gameplay that we all know and love. Blocks come down from above, you arrange them by colors. You know the drill. It's amazing how even though we have played these games over-and-over again, they're still addicting. When you take that addictive gameplay and then add terrific music, you get Groovin' Blocks.

As you can see in that clip, the music in Groovin' Blocks is fantastic. It also adds a different element to the gameplay. If you arrange your blocks along with the beat of the music, you'll score even more points. It really adds new life to a game that we've played for a long time now.

For $2 in the App Store, Groovin' Blocks is very worth the money. It's a game that you'll play over and over again. I highly recommend it.

Graphics8.0The blocks and the background in Groovin' Blocks are soothing and beautiful.411 Elite Award
Gameplay8.0The controls will be familiar with anyone that has played games like Tetris or Columns.
Sound9.0Fantastic music is what sets this game apart from others. Each level has a different song, and you'll find them stuck in you head after playing.
Lasting Appeal8.0GB's takes a game that we've all played before and adds new elements that makes it feel fresh.
Fun Factor 8.0Once you launch Groovin' Blocks prepare to be starring at that screen for a while. It quickly turns 5 minutes into 30.
Overall8.5   [ Very Good ]  legend
