iWalk Extreme 10000 Duo (Tech) Review
Posted by Adam Larck on 07.07.2013

One problem Iíve always had while on the go is keeping mobile devices charged for gaming. Sure, you can always try and use a car charger, but the charge is slow and minimal at best.

However, the iWalk selection of battery charges, the Extreme 10000Duo for this review, can give you plenty of options to charge USB devices on the go.

The Duo has been designed with discretion in mind. The device is simply a small, black rectangle that has four lights on it to indicate the battery life left on it. Itís small enough to slide in your pocket to allow charging while walking or on a plane, which is great to allow extended gaming sessions.

And this thing will definitely allow for some long gaming sessions. The 10000 mAh went through three full iPhone charges and plenty of rounds of XCOM on iPad before finally losing the last of its battery life. Thankfully, recharging the device is simply plugging an included USB cord into the PC for a few hours.

Besides being able to charge any current phone, tablet or music player, I also found the Duo great to charge the Vita while on the go. Helping to charge multiple devices are the two USB ports in the system, one is 2.1A output and the other is 1.0A output.

Another benefit the Duo has is being handing in a pinch if the power goes out. Besides being able to charge devices, holding the power button down for a few seconds can turn a LED flashlight on for use.

The way you turn this on actually relates to one of the problems I have with the device.

Thereís no true way to turn the thing off. Holding the power button just turns the flashlight on, and just tapping it doesnít do a thing. You actually have to just unplug everything from it and wait for it to shut itself off after a bit of time passes.

Another problem some may have is the price. The 10000 Duo isnít the priciest charger iWalk has (that honor goes to the $150 Extreme 15000), but it will still set you back $100.

There are quite a few chargers to select from with different prices, so thereís sure to be one in the price range someone is looking for.

\The charger isnít the only thing the package comes with. It also features the original Apple charging cord (not the lightning), a micro-USB charging cord. And a storage pouch to keep everything in.

  • Simple design makes it easy to transport.
  • Long battery life.
  • Flashlight is handy for when power goes out.

  • No way to turn the device off without waiting.
  • Price may be high for some people.
  • If you arenít traveling a lot, you may not have a reason for this.

    The 411:

Overall, the Extreme 100000 Duo is a great device for gamers or tech users on the go. Itíll keep most everything that charges via USB ready to go for a long time and still have battery left over for a light or another charge. If youíre traveling, take a look at the iWalk line and see what it can offer for you.
