Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1 (Wii) Review
Posted by Ramon Aranda on 09.04.2008

Title: Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1
Publisher: MTV Games
Players: 1-4
Type: Music

With the Wii version of Rock Band missing the ability to download songs, the developers had to quickly find a way to give Wii owners a way to play new tracks. Enter the Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1.

The track pack features the following songs, which are already available as DLC on the other platforms:

- 30 Seconds to Mars The Kill
- All American Rejects Move Along
- Blink – 182 All the Small Things
- Boston More Than a Feeling
- David Bowie Moonage Daydream
- Faith No More We Care A Lot
- Grateful Dead Truckin'
- The Hives Die, All Right!
- KISS Calling Dr. Love
- Lynyrd Skynyrd Gimme' Three Steps
- Nine Inch Nails March of the Pigs
- Oasis Live Forever
- Paramore Crushcrushcrush
- The Police Synchronicity II
- Queens of the Stone Age Little Sister
- Ramones Teenage Lobotomy
- Smashing Pumpkins Siva
- Stone Temple Pilots Interstate Love Song
- Weezer Buddy Holly
- Wolfmother Joker and the Thief

All 20 tracks use the master recordings so no cover bands for these. Players don't need to own the original Rock Band to be able to play the game but the downfall is that since it's on a seperate disc, you'll have to take out the regular Rock Band disc (if you have it) and start the game over with the track pack. The game plays exactly as the regular game does so you'll find Tour Mode, Quickplay as well as Tug of War and Score Duel Mode. The game, which retails for $29.99 really isn't too bad of a deal when you consider that each song generally goes for about $2 as downloadable content. The only downside is that you don't get to pick the 20 songs that you want.

Still for gamers who already own Rock Band on the Wii, the Track Pack Volume 1 adds a fresh batch of music and good music at that to the collection, giving Rock Band some extra legs on the Wii.

Graphics6.0The game looks the same as Rock Band Special Edition so there aren't any graphical improvements.
Gameplay7.5Plays as you'd expect from the original game.
Sound8.0Excellent choice of tracks though the sound quality remains the same.
Lasting Appeal6.0Only 20 songs but it adds life to Rock Band. No new modes included.
Fun Factor 10.0The game still rocks and the good selection of tracks makes it just as enjoyable.
Overall7.5   [ Good ]  legend

This is just sad, and should be Nintendo's wake-up call on the Wii needing a Hard Drive.

If anything, this is going to give Nintendo an excuse not to do anything about storage. Publishers can just release DLC discs!
