The 411 Movies Top 5 10.16.09: Week 187 - Top 5 Hottest Horror Heroines
Posted by Trevor Snyder on 10.16.2009

THE TOP 5 HOTTEST HORROR HEROINES

TREVOR SNYDER
HONORABLE MENTIONS

Sigourney Weaver, the Alien series - Interestingly enough, I actually think Weaver looked the hottest in the fourth film. But the finale of the first film, with Ripley in her underwear, is classic.

Rose McGowan, Planet Terror - McGowan's opening credit Go-Go dance probably would have been enough to earn an Honorable Mention, but it was sealed when she somehow became even hotter after losing a leg and replacing it with a machine gun.

Adrienne Barbeau, The Fog, Creepshow, Swamp Thing - I grew up watching the films of Barbeau, and there are at least two things about her that were very important to my development as a young man.

THE TOP 5

5. Courtney Cox, the Scream series - I realize Neve Campbell received most of the attention for these films, but personally I always found Cox's Gale Weathers to be the hotter and more interesting of the two characters.

4. Asia Argento, Land of the Dead - You gotta love Dario Argento. Not only did he give us some of the greatest horror films of all time, but he also gave us Asia. Thanks, Dario.

3. Jamie Lee Curtis, Halloween, Prom Night, Terror Train, The Fog - Although not a classic beauty, Jamie Lee's regular-girl who can kick ass when need be act was the hottest thing going in horror back in the early ‘80s. She is still the ultimate "Final Girl."

2. Kate Beckinsale, the Underworld series - Making a movie about vampires fighting werewolves is a cool but somewhat obvious idea. But then putting Kate Beckinsale in a tight leather outfit as the lead character? Well, that's just genius.

1. Milla Jovovich, the Resident Evil series - Anyone who knows me already knew what my #1 would be. My love of Jovovich is well-documented, and there's no denying that she's a huge part of the reason the Resident Evil films are as popular as they are despite their corny scripts and "who-gives-a-shit-about-the-video-game" mentality.

SHAWN S. LEALOS
Hotness is in the eye of the beholder. I am older than most of you readers, and if I wanted I could go back to my childhood in the seventies and eighties to find someone hot back then but instead I will keep it current. The girls I am listing are ones I still find hot today.

5. Naomi Watts: The Ring - Although she had been an actress for over ten years, I had never seen a Naomi Watts movie until The Ring. I had never seen Tank Girl or Mulholland Drive and she was a revelation in the 2002 scare flick. I remember when I saw the movie, it was one of those times I went to see a movie alone. It was after a summer class and I was one of the only people in the entire theater. The movie scared the piss out of me but I left with a major crush on Watts. Since then my crush has went away but in 2002, I loved Naomi Watts.

4. Kate Beckinsale: Underworld - Much like Naomi Watts, my first experience to Beckinsale was through her horror debut Underworld. I had never seen Pearl Harbor because I heard it sucked and had never seen Serendipity because I'm a guy. I had also never heard of Brokedown Palace at that time. Then Underworld came out and I wanted to see vampires versus werewolves so it was in 2003 that I discovered Kate Beckinsale. Maybe I just have something for a girl in leather.

3. Jessica Biel: Blade: Trinity, Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Speaking of leather... There are a lot of people who hate Blade: Trinity. I am not one of them. I thought Ryan Reynolds brought a lot of humor and laughs to his portrayal of Hannibal King. I thought Triple H was hilarious. I thought Dracula was pulled off well. Some of the plot devices were rubbish but in all it was enjoyable. And then there was Jessica Biel, in black leather. Damn. And she spent half of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake in a tight shirt tied above her belly, body oiled and glistening. Double Damn.

2. Ali Larter: Final Destination, House on Haunted Hill - I thought Ali Larter was pretty hot when I saw her in nothing more than a whip cream bikini in Varsity Blues. Then she looked damn good in her two horror starring efforts, House on Haunted Hill and Final Destination. Then I fell in love with two women thanks to Kevin Smith's love letter to his fans, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Larter was one of them. There is only one person who has looked better in a cat suit in the last ten years than Larter...

1. Eliza Dushku: Wrong Turn, Soul Survivors - ...and that is Eliza Dushku. I love Eliza Dushku. Screw Sarah Michelle Gellar, Dushku is the hottest thing to come from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She was so hot in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back that I had no problem watching Bring it On with my wife. She was in horror movies like Soul Survivors and Wrong Turn. She has been in great horror shows like Buffy, Angel, and Tru Calling. She is currently on the genre show Dollhouse. I want to see Eliza Dushku on anything and everything. She is the one true Goddess on my list.

TODD VOTE

5. Sigourney Weaver (Alien) - I went back and forth on whether or not I would classify this film as a horror movie, thus justifying Ripleys placement on the list. The first film at least was horror, so Ripley finds herself sitting at number 5.

4. Eliza Dushku (Wrong Turn) - Eliza Dushku is one of three reasons to watch the movie Wrong Turn, and by far the best reason. The third best reason, is the movie is awesome. The second best is Emmanuelle Chriqui.

3. Jennifer Connelly (Dark Water) - Hey, it says hottest heroines, not hottest heroines from good movies. Jennifer Connelly is hot.

2. Laurie Strode (Halloween) - Jamie Lee Curtis, not Scout Taylor Compton. Not that Scout isn't a looker, but she is no Jamie Lee. Laurie Strode went up against Michael Myers more than anybody else, and came out on top on three seperate occasions. For those keeping track, that makes her 3-1 against evil incarnate.

1. Kate Beckinsale (Underworld & Van Helsing) - She is unbelievably hot in both films. If I had to give a nod to one or the other, Selene is the easy victor.

STEVE GUSTAFSON
HONORABLE MENTIONS

Rose McGowan, Planet Terror - She had a gun for a leg! Hot AND kinky.

Linda Hamilton, Children of the Corn - She stayed sexy even while surrounded by creepy little kids.

Ashley Laurence, Hellraiser - I can't put my finger on it but she had this cool exotic look going on while being tormented by Pinhead and the boys.

THE TOP 5

5. Adrienne Barbeau, The Fog - It was a toss up between The Fog or Swamp Thing. Either way you can't lose with Adrienne. No one rocks a slip like her.

4. Heather Langenkamp, A Nightmare on Elm Street - Hot enough for Freddy...hot enough for me! She captures the typical 80's look. Plus, she had herself one hot bathtub scene.

3. Janet Leigh, Psycho - Easy one! She OWNS the shower scene. Whenever I look at the picture above I imagine that's the same face she would make if she read the comments some of our Top 5's inspire. But that just might be me. Seriously, Janet brought a classic beauty to the screen and her while she may not be "hot" in a modern sense, her looks helped captivate the audience and make the shower, THE shower scene of all time.

2. Sigourney Weaver, Alien - Hot woman with a gun! When she stripped down to her underwear attire, the temperature in theaters across the nation rose several degrees.

1. Jamie Lee Curtis, Halloween - Not only does she bring the heat in a few of the Halloween movies, she survived Prom Night, The Fog, Terror Train...you get the picture.

LEN ARCHIBALD
So in order to do this list some justice, I have to concede the fact that some of these flicks are TERRIBLE…but I cannot deny the hotness of the women in them. Such is life. Shout out to Signorney Weaver (The Alien(s) Franchise) and Jada Pinkett Smith in Scream 2 (yes, I know she died in the beginning, but she is still HAWT.)

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Neve Campbell (The Scream Series) - Oh, Sidney Prescott. My Canadian hotness.

Juliette Lewis (From Dusk Till Dawn) - C'mon, you wanted to do what Quentin Tarantino's Gecko brother thought she said to do…Just admit it…SICKO!

Jennifer Love Hewitt (I Know What You Did Last Summer) - "What do you want from me?" I want you jiggle some more in the rain with a white tank top, thank you much.

THE TOP 5

5. Camille Keaton (I Spit on Your Grave) - CONTROVERSY! I don't feel as strongly as say…Roger Ebert, in regards to my feelings about this movie. I don't like it, but it is NOT Cannibal Holocaust or Caligula, and that is a plus in my books. I also cannot deny the fact that until Camille Keaton's character gets the tar beat out of her and raped like 18 BAZILLION TIMES before dishing out her sweet, sweet motorboat fan disemboweling revenge on her assailants, that she was quite the looker. I'm going to twist one of Chris Rock's most popular jokes in a bizarre manner…

"I understand. It's still wrong…But I understand."

4. Kate Beckinsale (Underworld): It's Kate Beckinsale. She's in skin-tight black leather and she's kicking all sorts of ass everywhere. I don't think this needs an explanation.

3. Julianne Moore (Hannibal): Oh, God – do I hate this movie. I mean…HATE this movie with the power of a thousand Khan's. It basically bastardized a great film (The Silence of the Lambs) and completely went in the opposite direction intended from the book, which would have actually made the other 2 or so hours before it make sense. I'm going on a rant. Fact is, one of the saving graces of this movie is Julianne Moore's uber-hotness as Clarice Starling (replacing Jodi Foster.) She didn't bare all as she does for other films, but that firey red hair and "take me now, here, I don't care who's looking" eyes helped me get through this wretched, wretched failure of a movie.

2. Rose McGowan (Planet Terror): I have a thing for dark-eyed, dark haired women (which will throw people off regarding my #1), so there is no denying that I would consider Mrs. Robert Rodriguez "my type" of gal. I'm not even gonna get into the semantics of it; Her name is "Cherry", she is a stripper and when her leg is ripped off, it is replaced with a machine gun. Hot. I don't know if there is anyone that makes red lipstick look as diabolically sinful as she does (perhaps Scarlett Johannsen.)

1. Marilyn Burns (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre): Yes, I'm a sick puppy. Here's the thing. A man of my stature likes…uh…what do we call it nowadays? The badonkadonk? Watching Ms. Burns in her tight, white bellbottoms has me ringing bells for her...bottom. That was the cheesiest of lines, but I don't care. Long story short, I think Leatherface wanted to thrust another kind of chainsaw at poor Sally. I know I did when I first saw this.

Next week, the Halloween Top 5's continue. Tell then, feel free to follow me on Twitter and check out my personal blog (including my defense of horror remakes) at Night of the Living Trev.

I actually know a lot of females that LOVE "I Spit on Your Grave" and look upon it as the ultimate female empowerment film. Kudos, Len, for mentioning it.

Double the kudos for Len for including Marilyn Burns. I always thought she was hot in TCM.

Kate beckinsale is the hottest thing to ever happen in the Underworld films. Ive never dropped a j bomb in my pants as that SNL song suggests, but I come close when I watch that movie.

Im gonna have to pick my top 5 as
Honorable Mention

Sara Paxton- She is Mari in Last House on the Left(2009). I never seen her before until watching her in this movie and she is super hot in this movie and it gets her away from the childish movies and shows she has been on(Thanks IMDB).

5. Kristen Stewart- Yes I know twilight and no I havent seen it but the previews I have seen and her at awards shows and that she is really really really beautiful but since Twilight is not really too much of a horror movie she gets to be #5

4. Scout Taylor-Compton- She plays Micheal Myers baby sister in Halloween(Zombie's version). I really liked her in this movie. Plus hearing about Malcolm McDowell in this movie I checked it out and I was real impressed.

3. Mila Jovovich- Simply beautiful girl killing zombies hell yeah

2. LeeLee Sobieski- She killed it in Joy Ride and put on a good performance. She looked really hot in the movie too. Im surprised no one mentioned her.

1. Kate Beckinsale- I dont think I can top what has been said about her then whats already been said. Underworld in a tight leather suit thats all that is needed.

I'm loving the Weaver love here, guys. Most people seem to look at me like "WTF" when I say Weaver was hot as shit up until a few years ago (which is, of course, due to age). Still my #1, always and forever.

HonMen: Clea DuVall (The Faculty), Sarah Joslyn Crowder ($la$her$), Natasha Lyonne (Modern Vampires)

5. Greta Gosch (Survival Instinct)
4. Linnea Quigley (Return of the Living Dead)
3. Asia Argento (Land of the Dead)
2. Natasha Henstridge (Species)
1. Sigourney Weaver (Alien series)

5. Beatrice Dalle - Inside - Kind of an iffy choice because she plays such a convincing psychotic monster and the last thing you're probably thinking about is gettin down with her. But she had that Angelina Jolie thing going on which I like a lot.

4. Danielle Harris - Halloween franchise/Urban Legend - Yeah, she was just a kid in the Halloween movies but look at her now: (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2322570496/nm0364583) Plus I loved her as the hot goth chick in Urban Legend.

3. Heather Donahue - Blair Witch Project - What can I say? I love me some redheads.

2. Rebecca Gayheart - Urban Legend(s) - For me, the Noxzema girl's coming out party. Come to think of it, there were a lot of hotties in that movie: Alicia Witt, Natasha Gregson Wagner, I already mentioned Danielle Harris, heck even Tara Reid was rockin it then.

1. Melinda Clarke - Return of the Living Dead III - Hottest zombie chick - EV-ER. And I'm through.

Is Underworld considered horror? I just thought it was supernatural action. It didn't seem to have any horror aspects to it, aside from vampires and werewolves.

Someone give Sean a cookie for having the hottest pictures.
