QUESTION OF THE WEEK! Scarlett Johansson recently spoke about a possible Black Widow spin off saying:
"I love playing the Widow. I think she's got a very interesting past, a lot of storylines to explore, and certainly Kevin (Feige) loves that character. I think that Marvel has a very personal relationship with their fans, and I think if the fans want it, and the audience wants it, nothing's impossible. I would love to explore that option as well. Like I said, I love the character and it would be nice to see something nice and gritty.
My question to you: Would you be interested in seeing Johansson's Black Widow in a movie of her own?

CRAZIEST CASTING RUMOR OF THE WEEK!
This movie will be huge around here! As a DC-head, I can tell you that this area is loves their old Mayor! Spike Lee has found a leading man in Eddie Murphy, reports The Washington Post, who say that the actor will play former D.C. Mayor Marion Barry in a biopic based on both Harry Jaffe and Tom Sherwood's 1994 nonfiction book, Dream City: Race, Power and the Decline of Washington, D.C. and Dana Flor and Toby Oppenheimer's 2009 documentary The Nine Lives of Marion Barry.
Barry served three straight terms as Mayor of the District of Columbia between 1979 and 1991. Despite being arrested and convicted for crack cocaine use in 1990, Barry ran again and won a fourth term between 1995 and 1999 and, despite no longer being in office, is still referred to with the nickname of D.C.'s "Mayor-for-life".
Sad but true.
YOUGOTTABEKIDDINME!
Deadline has word that Lionsgate has hired Noble Jones to adapt an updated low budget remake of American Psycho, the 2000 film starring Christian Bale based on Bret Easton Ellis' novel of the same name. Jones also hopes to make his feature directorial debut after pitching the project to Lionsgate a few months back with the first draft of the script turned in sometime last month. Word is it will be a modern update to the tale.
Thoughts on this remake?
Let's get into the REAL news!
What Did Bane Say?
One of the most anticipated films of 2012, The Dark Knight Rises is at the top of many "Must See" lists. The six-minute prologue will be shown before select IMAX screenings of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol.
A select number were treated to the prologue with an introduction by Christopher Nolan himself. The reporters were asked to keep the details of the footage relatively light and most said the same thing:
You can't understand a word Bane says!
Even though the opening is shot in 35mm, the footage moves immediately to IMAX and the events that transpire during a hostage situation. They show Bane and an ensuing fight that takes every advantage of the IMAX frame. At the conclusion of the footage, there's a rapid montage of shots, all in IMAX, that features a lot to excite fans.In his introduction, Nolan stressed the importance of returning filmgoing to the grandeur that it was for him as a child, warning that said scale, "is being chipped away at in all kinds of ways."
There was much discussion about Bane's voice. Muffled by his mask and featuring a British accent, it's difficult to fully understand exactly what he is saying.
Debate has gone back and forth centering on if this was done on purpose. Nolan has plenty of time to correct it but a small segment has started a backlash against the film. Set for release on July 20, 2012, The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, and Nestor Carbonell.
Does this small "flaw" worry you at all?
Yo Joe!
Coming in under the radar is news about G.I. Joe: Retaliation! To continue the countdown for the world premiere of the new trailer, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been tweeting about the movie. Here's a first look at Lady Jaye (Adrianne Palicki) and Flint (D.J. Cotrona) in their combat gear:
Also, critics and Hollywood insiders were able to get the first look at the trailer for Jon Chu's movie. As you can see, the overall opinion was...positive!
Here's a brief sample of what the trailer will contain on Tuesday:
Totally Mad for Max!
Director George Miller is persistent. He has been trying to make Mad Max: Fury Road for years now. It was supposed to shoot this year, but got pushed back. Then it was scheduled for January, but apparently it rained at the location and now...well, let's let Miller explains it to MovieHole here:
"Its Mad Max, every time we try it doesn't happen. But that's something that happens [with movies]. This time it was rain. And we were going to shoot out of Broken Hill. and what was once a flat wasteland, is now a flower garden virtually. And its beautiful, beautiful by the way. good for everybody, good for the country, not good for Mad Max. So we're headed out next year [to South Africa] to do it, middle of next year, to do it."
Never heard of a movie being delayed due to beauty.
Miller is not giving up on this film, and insists it will shoot the middle of 2012. Tom Hardy is still on to replace Mel Gibson as Max and Charlize Theron is also staying on board for her part.
Return to the Park!
As long as this doesn't distract him from Lincoln! Steven Spielberg says that Jurassic Park 4 is still in the works. Spielberg was asked about the movie during a press junket for The Adventures of Tintin and said the sequel is still on the schedule.
"I haven't been active in the last year because I've been so busy obviously on War Horse, Tintin and now I'm currently shooting Lincoln, but right now, it's on the schedule to bring out another Jurassic Park," he said. When asked when it would be likely to begin filming, Spielberg chuckled and said, "It's just another boring secret."
Are you excited for this?

A new trailer for Battleship has HIT! Peter Berg produces and directs the May 18, 2012 release, an epic action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Based on Hasbro's classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancée; Alexander Skarsgård as Hopper's older brother, Commanding Officer Stone of the USS Samson; Rihanna as Lt. Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention some of the other OUTSTANDING articles on www.411mania.com. You would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't peep around the site. I always get my daily habit of reading. Here's a small sample!
All the Dark Knight Rises reviews have been more than positive except for Bane's muffled voice. Between now and July, I'm sure Nolan will have it to perfection.

Bane looks good, haven't heard his voice yet, but I'm sure it will be OK, this is probably a pre-emptive strike to confuse movie goers & comic fans to the horrible casting of Ann Hathaway as Catwoman.
Bitch about Bane, maybe no one will notice the 3rd shit choice of Nolan's leading lady in the trilogy.

What is it about Nolan's Batman films and voices? First the cookie monster voice for Batman and now Bane has a mouth full of marbles and a British accent?
I thought Bane was Mexican?

Battleship looks like a trailer for Transformers 4. It looks like a flash seabound remake of ID4 right down to the force field!

No to a Black Widow spin off with her.
In Nolan We Trust.

Awww, no love for Anne. I think it'll be fine, my man loving friend, there's anything wrong with that

I think Battleship has the potential to be really good. Theres a lot of spectacular imagery in the trailer...but that can be said for any big budget FX flick. But Peter Berg is a director/writer with a lot of talent. Could Michael Bay make a movie has sickly hilarious as Very Bad Things or as just plain wonderful like the Friday Night Lights franchise? Hancock didn't work, but it at least had interesting ideas at its core.
Plus Battleship reunites FNL co-stars Kitsch and Jesse Plemons, so thats automatically worth a look. Hopefully this will be more than just Transformers/Battle LA/Skyline.
The first GI Joe didn't suck, but it was the blandest, middle-of-the-road big action flick in the last few years. The Rock's presence makes the sequel slightly interesting...but Bruce Willis being there...well, now it might truly be worth seeing. Bruce is still awesome.
Jurassic Park IV could be cool. But no more fucking kids! The first film was totally fine having them in it. They fit, and it all worked. But, please, lets just do adults next time.
I love that Spielbergs keeping superbusy lately with films I really wanna see...especially that Lincoln pic, for which they should just give the Oscar to Day-Lewis right now. Thats gonna be amazing.
Black Widow is best suited for Mission: Impossible-ish spy thriller. The SHIELD element is so suited for that genre. Doesn't have to be all superpowers and intergalactic danger.
Does anyone other than greedy executives actually want to see an American Psycho update? What the hell are they thinking??

He is latin but isn't mexican. Lets face it Nolan takes liberties with his adaptations, and hasn't really messed anything up yet. My only conern is how he treats Catwoman, every single incarnation of her has had a seductive side, which is something I don't get at all from Hathaway, even in tight leather. Catwoman from Batman Returns was playe purrrfectly.
A Black Widow movie? To me thats honestly a hard sell, don't want to give it the direct to DVD treament either. Make a damn mini series for HBO or Showtime, I think thats a great way to get smaller characters over and to actually give them some justice rather than have them buried at the box office.
