Also, I'm on the old Twitter machine…

THIS WEEK's BATTLE – The Battle For The WhedonVerse Continues!

A NOTE ON THE TOURNEMENT: Ok, now I know that no matter what I did, people would likely not be happy. But what I want you to do is read and see what happened. Again, I discussed the feature with the column's original owner "The Goose" and we decided that the best way to select the ladies was a blind draw from a hat. We also did the same with the NUMBER of competitors. We landed on 18 for that, which means this week you shall vote on the play in rounds, kind of like the NCAA tournament does now. And then, then we shall fully get the ball rolling. Also, the program I used to make the bracket allowed for "random seeding," which is what I selected and the bracket below is how the program placed the ladies. Again, I know that this isn't like many of you would have done, but I felt that added a fun element to everything as we truly did things random. Now, let's get to work and crown the QUEEN of The WhedonVerse!

Last week's voting: Last week we had another great week of participation as we cleared 2,000 votes once again. In one battle, Chartism Carpenter destroyed Iyari Limon 700-218. But in the other battler we had what I believe is the closest battle under the Jack McGee era, as Alyson Hannigan defeated Christina Hendricks 651-618. And now, we continue on with out ELITE EIGHT!

REMINDER: The photos are a mere representation, always vote for who YOU feel is the hottest woman

#13. Eliza Dushku

VS.

#12. Julie Benz

#14. Felicia Day

or

#11. Mercedes McNabb

ALL VOTING CLOSES ON WEDNESDAY NIGHTS AT 9PM

FIVE – GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY UPDATE

We all know that Guardians of the Galaxy is now a reality, as Marvel has officially announced the film for August 1st, 2014.I will be honest, I was never big into Guardians of the Galaxy. I read some of it, I enjoyed what I read, but it was never a must read book for me. Chris McCoy is currently rewriting the script, and the new rumors are that the film will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which The Avengers takes place. This is good news for various reasons. First of all, the Guardians previously appeared in the comics with other heroes such as Captain America to help aid in their war against the alien Badoon. Secondly, the more you build the universe on film, the more possibilities you have for the marvel film universe to grow and thrive. But what will the film be about? Here is the rumored AND short synopsis going around…

"About a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants."

With that being said, what do you guys think about Guardians of the Galaxy coming to the big screen?

FOUR – DAREDEVIL HEADING HOME TO MARVEL

There had been rumors that Daredevil may stay with Fox, if they were willing to give up some of the film rights to the Fantastic Four, but when Fox stated that they wanted to keep it and build that reboot, Daredevil appeared to be in trouble. Director Joe Carnahan had been campaigning for a shot at rebooting the character, but when he posted the following on Twitter, I think we all knew that it was over…

"I think my idea for a certain retro, red-suited, Serpico-styled superhero went up in smoke today kids."

Fox's plans for a reboot were halted earlier this year when David Slade left the project to direct the Hannibal pilot. Carnahan's plan for the reboot was for a violent, "NC-17 cut" as well as a presumably R-rated version of the character, ala Frank Miller some were saying. So Daredevil is heading back to Marvel, and I think we can all agree, we will NOT be seeing a violent, "NC-17 cut" from them. This is the company that is owned by Disney, and that put the kibosh on the Devil in a Bottle story arc for Iron Man. Disney doesn't want to get into those sort of stories, and I can understand that, and I can understand why people would be upset.

But Disney has done well with the Marvel properties, they have made money with them, and they are now more popular than ever. While Carnahan's plan for the reboot sounded pretty cool, I am willing to give Marvel the benefit of the doubt here for re-launching Daredevil. Do not get me wrong, I am not saying that it will be perfect because Marvel is going to take back control. We do not know who will write it, direct it or star in it. But what I am saying is that I am optimistic about the project because they have built up good will with me as someone who pays to watch movies.

THREE – WHAT IS BILL & TED 3 ABOUT?

For what seems like years, there has been talk of a potential third Bill and Ted film, and in the last year, talk has picked up as the once reluctant Keanu Reeves finally showed interest in doing the project. The facts are that without Keanu Reeves, the movie would have been direct to DVD crap. But now, now there is some hope for fans of the original film. Reeves was recently asked about the film, and gave his thoughts on it as well as the possible plot for the film. POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW…

"We have a nice story. We'll see if anyone else wants to make it. I don't know. It's one thing to think about it, but to perform it... One of the plot points is that these two people have been crushed by the responsibility of having to write the greatest song ever written and to change the world. And they haven't done it. So everybody is kind of like: 'Where is the song?' The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock.

And we go on this expedition, go into the future to find out if we wrote the song, and one future "us" refuses to tell us, and another future 'us' blames us for their lives because we didn't write the song, so they're living this terrible life. In one version we're in jail; in another we're at some kind of highway motel and they hate us."

In theory that sounds great. It is a logical step to take in the story, and of course, something fans of the original always wondered about. But I have to wonder, how many people will actually see the film? Sure people are talking about the movie, sure there are a ton of fans of the 1989 film, but has it been too long? For me, the answer is no, but of course, I love movies. But what about the general public? How much demand for the movie is there? Let me know what you think!

In closing, I have only one thing to say…"San Dimas High School Football Rules!"

TWO – BEST AND WORST OF THE WEEK

BEST OF THE WEEK – Raiders of the Lost Ark in IMAX: News broke this week that Raiders of the Lost Ark is getting re-released next month in IMAX. While I am not a huge IMAX fan, I love the film and will spend the cash to go and see it in IMAX. Add onto that the fact that Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures is getting released in a Blu-ray set on September 18th, and I am one happy man. This is good news for a guy like me that loves the movies.

WORST OF THE WEEK – Realization: Having it set in after writing about Bill and Ted 3 that my favorite part of the original will not be there…

"Be excellent and party on my friend…

ONE – WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEKENDg

#1 – Saturday – Matinee – The Expendables 2: So last weekend I saw The Campaign, and like The Watch it pretty much sucked. Sandler, Stiller, Ferrell, they have all let me down as of late. So now, I go to my bearded savior Chuck Norris and shall go and see THE EXPENDABLES 2! Explosions, guns, badass action stars. Lack of plot you say? FUCK OFF I don't care, I will finally be entertained!

#2 – Saturday at 10PM ET on Showtime – Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman: MMA on tap for the weekend kids, and we all know that I love my MMA! Strikeforce returns to Showtime with a card that I am glad is not a PPV, because I wouldn't have paid for it. But on Showtime, I sure the hell will watch it. The main draw here is Ronda Rousey vs. Sarah Kaufman, which has all kinds of possibilities. Will Rousey take another arm home? Or will Kaufman's striking be took much for the judo practitioner? I cannot wait to find out! Here is the card for the show…

* Champ Ronda Rousey vs. Sarah Kaufman (for women's bantamweight title)
* Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza vs. Derek Brunson
* Roger Bowling vs. Tarec Saffiedine
* Lumumba Sayers vs. Anthony Smith
* T.J. Cook vs. Ovince St. Preux

#3 – Sunday at 8PM ET on PPV – WWE Summerslam: And once again we have wrestling on PPV this weekend as we shall get WWE Summerslam. While I am a big wrestling fan, I have to say that Summerslam is not doing much for me, and I will not be buying, and instead, will take it in at the old Tilted Kilt. Between poor booking and the overall lack of excitement around the card, it is just not worth the hit on the cable bill. But for food and friends, I will watch. Here is the card for the show…

* WWE Championship: CM Punk(c) vs. The Big Show vs. John Cena
* World Heavyweight Title Match: Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio
* Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar
* Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler
* Kane vs. Daniel Bryan
* WWE Tag Team Title Match: Kofi Kingston & R-Truth vs. The Primetime Players
* WWE Intercontinental Match: The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio
* Pre-Show Match for WWE US Title: Santino Marella vs. Antonio Cesaro

#4 – Sunday at 8PM ET on CBS – Big Brother 14: THERE MAY BE SPOILERS IN HERE: Frank had control this week, and even won the POV to top it all off. He had the grand plan to backdoor Dan, but Boogie felt that it would have been a poor choice, considering they made the silent six alliance just one week ago. Frank considered pulling the trigger, but then decided to leave Will and Joe on the block. Will ended up going, which out of the two was the right call. Joe may be annoying, but is shit at the game, and can go at any time. Will, even with less behind him in terms of numbers, was just too dangerous. He knows the game, and has a personality to boot. Also, he was able to read people perfectly, and knew when he was being lied too all the time. In the end it was a good move. Gunning for Dan would have been ballsy, but also would have shaken things up badly and likely would have screwed Boogie and Frank's chances of living. Shane won the HOH in the competition, Brittany won the safety and Boogie played for the $10k and got it. Boogie has won like $16k thus far; it's all about the Benjamin's baby.

This week's & 1 model of the week is Trish Stratus…
