I originally ran this in the Hollywood 5 & 1 on Saturday and wanted to share it with you.
Kimberly Kane is one to watch. In 2010, Kane was named by Maxim as one of the 12 top female stars in porn and she's been named one of the top 10 female directors by XCritic. It's Vivid Entertainment's latest release, Devil on a Chain that has everyone talking. Starring and directed by the multi-talented Kane, Devil on a Chain tells the story of Candy (played by Kimberly), who has just 24 hours to find her sister Cherry (Skin Diamond), who has been kidnapped by a nefarious criminal organization involved in the perverted underbelly of sex trafficking in the bleak Salton Sea California landscape. Only Candy can find her sister and she'll lay waste to anyone who gets in her way.
As I mentioned, Kane not only directed and stars in the movie, but she also co-wrote the sexploitation/neu vintage, adult action comedy screenplay with Nate Liquor. "I wanted to revisit the sexploitation genre of the 70s using the great talents that we have available in this industry," said Kane. "Of course, I'm breathing new life into these really hip and really stylized movies because I think porn enthusiasts will love the sexy tongue-in-cheek fun. One of my favorite characters is the evil pimp who has OCD and is constantly using a hand sanitizer. I also think that fans will totally love the editing by the amazing Winkytiki."
I had the chance to catch up with Kimberly and ask her some questions about her latest ventures.
Steve Gustafson: Kimberly, thank you for taking some time to answer some questions for 411mania.com! You've been a hot topic both in and out of the industry recently. Speaking about Vivid's Devil on a Chain, you co-wrote, star, and directed this feature, which is a huge accomplishment. What inspired you to wear so many hats?
Kimberly Kane: I like to stay busy. I'm a creative person and I outgrow things and move on.
Steve Gustafson: Was it difficult managing the various duties?
Kimberly Kane: I've been directing and performing for many years. It's be come like one big job. I have an awesome crew and production manger helping me so it's a very collaborative affair.
Steve Gustafson: How would you describe Devil on a Chain to a new fan?
Kimberly Kane: Devil on a Chain is what I like to call a "neu vintage" Sexploitation movie. It has all the campy, ass kicking, sexy and hip you'd get in the 1970's Sexploitation films of the past, using the best talent we have in the business today. I think it's one of my coolest movies yet.
Steve Gustafson: Not too long ago you set the internet on fire with a simple picture of you in the Wonder Woman costume for the Wonder Woman XXX: An Axel Braun Parody movie. How was dealing with all the attention?
Kimberly Kane: I'm glad people are excited about the new Wonder Woman movie (coming soon) it's a great honor to be picked to play such a huge character. I know a lot of actresses went out for the part, but I'm happy they chose me.
Steve Gustafson: What can we look out for from you in the near future?
Kimberly Kane: I have new movies coming out soon with Vivid Entertainment that are really cool. I have an all girl movie called Pink Velvet and a epic crime drama feature coming out next year that was shot on location in San Francisco. I also have a brand new website launching and my very on iPhone App that will feature photos of me and my own photography. It's a very exciting year!
Steve Gustafson: What's the best way for fans to keep up-to-date on your latest news and movies?
Kimberly Kane: Follow me on twitter @kimberlykane.
Steve Gustafson: Thanks again Kimberly and all the best!

* What are your thoughts on the Riddick trilogy?
* What can be learned from Instructions Not Included?
One of the big hits of the summer has been World War Z. To date it has brought in $536 million worldwide against its $190 million budget. It's no surprise that Paramount wants to move on a sequel and star Brad Pitt is on board.
Pitt spoke at TIFF about the film and noted, "We're certainly talking about it, yeah. We have so many ideas on the table from just the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how zombie worlds work. We have so many ideas and so much information, we think we have a lot of stuff to mine from. We're going to do our best and see what we get out of it."
Casting of the Week! Terminator 5 is close to securing a new director, with Thor: The Dark World'sAlan Taylor reportedly in line to take the reins. According to Variety, Taylor has entered into talks with Paramount over potentially directing the film, although no official deal has been struck as yet.
Justin Lin was previously attached to the position before scheduling conflicts meant he was forced to step down. Since then, the project has been shelved and then revived, with Taylor currently thought to be the front-runner to head up its latest iteration. Concrete details about the new film are few and far between, although it has been mooted that Terminator 5 will become the first installment in a brand new trilogy.
In addition to that, Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed that he will be involved in some capacity, while Dwayne Johnson has also been linked to the property. Terminator 5 is expected to open on June 26, 2015.
The next batch of super fans are ready. Angry Fifty Shades of Grey followers are petitioning against the casting choices made by producers of the erotic novel's film adaptation. The irate "Shaders"(?) are demanding Alexis Bledel and Matt Bomer be cast as the leads instead.
On Monday, author E L James announced via Twitter that the stars of the much-anticipated kinky adaptation were finally chosen. Dakota Johnson is set to play virginal college student Anastasia Steele, while Charlie Hunnam will take on the role of Christian Grey, the brooding businessman who entices Anastasia over to the dark side with his "Red Room of Pain."
The Hollywood Reporter noted that a Change.org petition has been set up demanding the leads be recast with Bleldel and Bomer as the stars. The petition, which has since garnered over 20,000 signatures, reads:
Matt Bomer is the PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF CHRISTIAN GREY AND ALEXIS BLEDEL IS THE PERFECT ACTRESS TO REPRESENT ANASTASIA STEELE and if THEY ARE NOT, NOBODY WILL BE And I read the whole trilogy and I can assure that Matt is the perfect actor for this movie and Alexis too. So please PLEASE, all of the GREYsessed and Bomerettes in the world NEED those actors. They always will be for us the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. WE CAN DO ANYTHING GUYS, ANYTHING.
Bledel and Bomer have been fan favorites since talks of the 50 Shades movie first began. Bledel was apparently "flattered" to be considered. "I don't know where it came from," she told Elle magazine last year. "All I know about are some fan-made trailers on the internet I've seen, but that's the only thing I've heard." Adding, "People definitely do have strong opinions about [the casting of Christian Grey]. I guess when people really identify with a concept, they feel strongly about it."
Producer Dana Brunetti defended casting Johnson and Hunnam, who reportedly nailed a "chemistry read" together.
Man of Steel 2! Josh Brolin confirmed previous rumors that he had been up for the role of Batman in Man of Steel 2. Brolin said of the role, "I didn't have conversations about it, but Zack, that was part of his idea. It just didn't turn out. It's OK. It is OK. You know, another scenario might have worked better, but I'm happy for Ben."
Brolin also discussed the online reaction to Affleck's casting, saying, "I've never seen such a global reaction in my life, I feel for him, truly. I would not want to be him right now. The reaction becomes so personal. It's like, 'F*ck this guy, I wish he was dead.' And you're like, 'What? Dude, seriously? This guy is just working like you are. He's doing the same thing you are. He's trying to make the best choices he can... I want him to kick ass and I want everyone to love it and kind of eat their words."
Next, according to Latino Review, a new casting breakdown is rumored to be floating around to talent agencies for the upcoming Man of Steel sequel.
The casting breakdown suggests that Batman (BenAffleck) will have his own love interest in the film. The story says, "they're looking for someone in their late 20s and are open to all ethnicities." They also want an actress "who is both tall and possesses physicality." The character could be any number of possibilities such as Vicki Vale, Julie Madison, Selina Kyle, or someone else entirely. Let the rumors begin swirling over that.
Affleck stars with Henry Cavill, Laurence Fishburne, Amy Adams, and DianeLane. The film releases on July 17, 2015.
Star Wars to The Lost City of Z!
Deadline.com created a stir on Wednesday when they reported that Benedict Cumberbatch was negotiating to star in The Lost City Of Z, a project that would effectively remove him from Star Wars: Episode VII consideration.
Cumberbatch picks up the project from Brad Pitt, who was first attached to star in Lost City of Z back in 2008 before opting out in 2010. Director James Gray, meanwhile, has remained with the project for the last five years.
Lost City of Z is based on David Grann's non-fiction account of British explorer Percy Fawcett and his obsession with finding the disappeared city of the title in the South American jungle. Fawcett and his son were lost and presumed killed during an exhibition to find the city in May of 1925. Their bodies were never recovered. Cumberbatch would star as Fawcett.
On Monday, a rumor that Cumberbatch could play a role in the new Star Wars film shot around the internet. That story was denied by Cumberbatch's representatives on Tuesday, and now seems moot with the news of Lost City of Z. In addition to that film, Cumberbatch is also set to star in Imitation Game as Alan Turing. He's featured in four upcoming 2013 releases, including 12 Years A Slave, The Fifth Estate, August: Osage County and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
Marvel: Phase 3! Vin Diesel was recently interviewed by Maria Menounous. During the interview, Diesel said he and Marvel are still discussing a role for a mystery 2016 Phase Three film for the studio. It appears Diesel is still in line to play another character for Marvel Studios on top of voicing Groot for Guardians of the Galaxy. Below are some highlights and a video of the interview:
Diesel on his discussions on a Phase Three project with Marvel: "When I met with Marvel it wasn't for anything immediate, it was to talk about a film that would be introduced in the Phase 3 part of Marvel, not for a few years. You wouldn't be able to see it for a few years. In my mind, Marvel were doing it right, they were enrolling me at the ground level which is the best way to enroll me. I get the call, I go down to Marvel. A great meeting. It was even talking about something so big I can't even talk about because it's like the merging of brands in a way, which I won't get into. That was something way, way, way, way, way down the road."
Diesel on how he has to be honest with his fans about working with Marvel: "We had agreed not to say anything about the specifics of the meeting. So, now I've got the fans who I love more than I love the industry, than I love everybody… I was thinking 'I've got to be real with them, I've got to tell them something' and yet I want to be respectful of people's process and if people like to do a slow reveal, you know? Quite frankly, it would have been too much to say and it might have been anticlimactic to say 'We're working on something for 2016' and so I just said 'You're going to hear some really big news' and I left at the end of that and it went crazy."
Diesel on his talks with Marvel for a project set for 2016 and wanting to do something more immediate first: "The next Monday, Marvel talks to me and says 'We're going to send something over in two weeks. We want to focus on the 2016 but we also want to, if possible, answer this growing request for something now.' I don't have six months to play a character in the immediate future, it's all booked… there was no way I was going to be able to deliver… after Comic-Con, we were at a stalemate…"
Thoughts on Diesel's involvement with Marvel?
The Amazing Spider-Man 2!
The Toronto Sun recently spoke with actor Paul Giamatti about his role as Aleksei Sytsevich aka The Rhino in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Below are some highlights:
Giamatti on Rhino's suit: "In the comic books of old, he had this suit on that made him look like a rhinoceros, and it made him super strong. If there was a bank vault he would just run right through it. Butt through it with his head. And he was not very smart."
Giamatti on how the suit is updated for the film: And I have a particular kind of suit, but I don't think I'm supposed to talk about it. He's a Russian mobster. Russians are always good villains. I have an ability to just destroy things. My accent is pretty hammy. I loved doing it. it seemed to me like an opportunity to be as over-the-top hammy as possible. It was really fun."
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released in theaters on May 2, 2014.
Transformers 4! Transformers 4 has officially been named Transformers: Age Of Extinction, with the new title making its debut on a brand new poster. Michael Bay looks set to introduce the robot dinosaurs for the movie as well, with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirming the presence of the Dinobots in the upcoming sequel.
With on-set spies having leaked the inclusion of the Dinobots over recent weeks, di Bonaventura decided to spill the beans in an interview with Beijing News.
"I cannot disclose the specifics, but you can be sure that the arrival of the Dinobots will give the audience a lot to be excited about," said the producer, sending fans into an online frenzy. "The world's coolest, most exciting cars will appear in the film," continues di Bonaventura, "including Chinese vehicles, so whether you are a car enthusiast or not, it will be a feast for the eyes."
TWO this week! First, Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for Gravity from director Alfonso Cuaron. The film is due out in theaters on October 4.
What do you think?
