Box Office Survey!
Instead of me just repeating what you can see, how about we ask some questions about the weekend box office? Answer in the comments!
* Why did Need for Speed do poorly at the box office?
* How will the Veronica Mars model change the way we release movies?
BadassDigest.com recently spoke with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, who talked about doing a female superhero movie with a new character, instead of Black Widow, who has been speculated to get her own solo film in the past. Below are some highlights.
Feige on doing a female superhero movie with a new lead: "Frankly if we do a Black Widow movie after Age of Ultron, when she's been central in three or four movies I don't think we'd get the quote unquote credit for it. People would say ‘She's already a big giant superhero!' But if we had a great idea, we'd do it….I like the idea if we're going to do a [female lead] do a new one. Do a wholly new character, do an origin story."
Feige's response on using a character like Captain Marvel: "We've talked a lot about [Captain Marvel]. I think that would be very cool."
Casting of the Week!
The week wouldn't be complete without some casting rumors for Star Wars! Variety reports that actors John Boyega (Attack the Block), Ed Speleers (Downtown Abbey), Ray Fisher, Matthew James Thomas, and Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad) are on the list of names up for a lead role in Star Wars: Episode VII for director JJ Abrams.
Fresh off her Academy Award win for Best Supporting Actress, Lupita Nyong'o could join the cast as well. THR reports that the actress met with Abrams for a potential role.
It was previously reported that Adam Driver was likely to join the cast as the film's central villain. The film is due out on December 18, 2015.
GottaBeKidding! Marc Webb recently spoke about his status with the Spider-Man franchise. Here are the highlights:
On Not Directing The Amazing Spider-Man 4: "I'd like to be involved as a consultant," he said about the fourth film, "and I've already talked to these guys about it, but in terms of directing it, that will close out my tenure. I've had so much fun doing it, but after the third movie, it'll be the time to find something else."
On The Spider-Man Universe They Are Creating: "We're building out a more complicated Spider-Man universe with characters that people haven't seen in other Spider-Man movies—The Sinister Six, Venom, and more. We'd all love to overlap with other studios, but it's beyond my pay grade."
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released on May 2nd, while The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is set for a June 10th, 2016 release, and The Amazing Spider-Man 4 is scheduled for a May 4th, 2018 release.
Speaking about our favorite web-slinger, Sony has released a ANOTHER new clip from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It features Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) joining the police in chasing Aleksei Sytsevich (Paul Giamatti), aka The Rhino. The film will be released on May 2. It was directed by Marc Webb and also stars Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx , Dane DeHaan, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Colm Feore, Sally Field and B.J. Novak.
Marvel Studios has released another new clip for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The new clip features Captain America and Falcon in action. The sequel is due out in theaters on April 4.
What do you think?
Before I say GOODBYE!
