Freakin' Vince Carter. Those of you who follow the NBA probably know about the Nets-Raptor classic last Sunday. The technicals, the bitch-slap heard round the world and Vince sticking a dagger into the Raptors and into my heart with 0.1 seconds left on the clock. Yeah that Carter kid is pretty good. As heartbreaking as that was, I'm glad I got to watch it in person. Speaking of the Raptors, I was watching The Colbert Report on Tuesday and I noticed the Toronto Raptors were on his "Notice Board", which I assume it to be his sh*t-list, when he was adding a new name to it. If the Raps accomplish nothing this season, at least they can say they managed to piss of Stephen Colbert.

This Week in TV
Aquaman has been cast…again
Variety reports that unknown male model Will Toale has been tapped to play Arthur Curry (Aquaman to you, AC to his friends) in the previously announced but yet-to-be-named Aquaman series for the WB.

This makes Toale the third (if you count Adrian Grenier on Entourage) person to play the character in less than two years. Toale is about to join a long tradition, so to commerate, I've put together a little photo retrospective of TV superheroes.

Justice League of America (Better we never acknowledge this ever existed)
Jon Stewart hosting this years Oscars
Stewart's hilarious and among the greatest satirists of our time but that doesn't mean he'll make the show any good. Doesn't matter how funny you are, the best you can expect is to be mildly amusing because the Oscars is an uptight event and hosts are on the leash. On a separate but related matter, Albert Brooks made an amusing point on Tuesday's The Daily Show when he told Jon not to be intimidated by the Academy's claim that they are watched by 3 billion people all over the world. "No one outside of America cares. You think the people in China are saying to each other ‘I'll bring the chips!!'?"
NBC greenlights Friday Night Lights pilot
I consider "Lights" one of my all time favorite sports movies but I don't see a TV show there, at least not with the same characters and without them there's no point. The whole purpose of bringing turning a movie into a series is to tell the continuing adventures of the characters. I have no interest in reliving the movie or following the players past the events of the film. I could be jumping the gun since it's only at the pilot phase but that's how I see it.
People's Choice Results (Naturally, I'll only be relaying the TV results.)
Didn't watch the show but I'll pass along the results and some commentary.
Best Drama: CSI
CSI Classic is the most popular show among all the key demos so no surprise. Why wasn't LOST even nominated?
Best Comedy: Everybody Loves Raymond
It is the people's choice after all. If the most people watch you, then the most people choose you.
Best New Drama:Prison Break
Would've been my choice too.
Best New Comedy: My Name is Earl
I'm not a huge fan of the show personally but as much as those Freddie fans disagree, "Earl" is the best out of the rookies.
Favourite Male TV Star: Ray Romano
At this rate, Romano can be on the ballot for the next 2 years and win just because a lot of people still see the show in syndication.
Favourite Female TV Star: Jennifer Garner
This was a big surprise, beating out Teri Hatcher. Could this be part of the DH backlash is rumored to be brewing?
Favourite Reality Show-Competition: American Idol
No big surprise here.
Favourite Reality Show - Other: Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
I really don't get the fascination with home renovations. Bob Villa must pay.
Ratings News
• My Name is Earl and The Office performed decently on their Thursday night debut. There was little dip from "Earl's" Tuesday's ratings and "Office" had its best regular-slot scores EVER, according to Variety. Don't know what it means but sounds good. Both shows still had to pay their respects to Thursday night king CSI though.
• Heather Graham's Emily's Reason's Why Not tanked in it's debut finishing fourth in it's timeslot as did Uncle Jesse's Jake in Progress, which followed right after (but it was still its "best regular-slot" score).
• The live-sex segment on Monday Night Raw was the WWE's highest rated segment in almost a year, which is a good sign for the company, but a bad one for wrestling fans who don't want to see Edge's or any other superstar's boner, like we did on monday. There are rumors of a Lita nipslip but that does me no good up here in Canada.

Tasty/Evil Caplets
It's been a busy week so I only got one for you today. Savour it. Relish it.
LOST (Jan 11)
3-Sentence Recap: Under excruciating circumstances, Eko grew up to be a major crime lord in Niger. The Virgin Mary statues with the cocaine belonged to Eko and the dead priest was his brother. Claire learns about Charlie's stash and kicks him to the curb.
Tasty: Eko goes face-to-face with the beast in a stare down does not yield or give an inch. Hardcore.
Eko's origin is right up there with Sawyer's and Locke's. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje performance puts him in the Emmy race NOW and I can't wait to see more flashbacks connecting the gap between the end of the flashback and the crash.
Evil: The beast is a cloud of smoke? It was a little bit underwhelming for me. Still, the blurred images within the cloud offer the promise of something big.
