Britney Spears on "Will & Grace"? Superman the Animated Series returning with a brand new feature film on DVD this year?! Dave Chappelle reappears. Behind the Music: Guns N' Roses. TV Wraps for "The OC", "My Name is Earl", "The Office" and "Gilmore Girls". Plus much more!
Introduction:
Not that much in the news this week, so I'm just adding random stuff to bulk this week's News Wrap. Boy, I'm eagerly awaiting the completion of the first season of the VICIOUS TV News Wrap in May. Although I'm guessing that I might pop back in the summer for stuff since reality TV is big in the summer and all. Anyway, this week I return to covering NBC's excellent My Name is Earl and The Office. Lets get to it.
Random TV Thoughts/News/Gossip/Opinions, etc:
- Britney Spears to "Will & Grace"
Yes, it seems that we will never escape her shadow. Anyway, Britney will be on NBC's Will & Grace on April 13th and she will be playing a Christian conservative on the show. Her? A Christian? Blah. Not to mention -- SHE'S PREGNANT AGAIN! I remember when I used to think about her non-stop. DIE KEVIN!
- Campus Ladies on Oxygen
Stop laughing. Yes, I somehow had too much free time on Sunday and managed to catch some episodes of Roseanne on Oxygen. While the show was on commercials, Oxygen aired a promo for a show called Campus Ladies. The show is about two middle-aged women who decide to go to college all of a sudden. Along the way they meet some weird people that add to the show's silliness. One good example would be when the girls, Barri & Joan, decide that they are in fact lesbians. Their friends, Drew & Abdul, hire a person to lock them in a room for 24-hours to deprogram their lesbian way of life. Funny stuff. And it was even funnier when one of their friends bashed some bottle and Barri claimed they were "gay bashing" them. Plus, the girls called their families to inform them of the "good news" and the phone conversations were too funny to describe here. The newest episode of the series saw Barri sleep with the star quarterback at a party, but the quarterback would later accuse Barri of date-raping him! Too funny. Campus Ladies is one of those shows where you just watch to laugh and nothing more. That makes it fun. Check it out Sundays & Mondays.
- Dave Chappelle reappears on Oprah
Dave was on last Friday's episode of Oprah to talk about what happened last year regarding his hit show and his reported "breakdown." Dave cracks me up when he says that Comedy Central wasn't the place to be on back when he started and that he turned it around. That's why we love him. The infamous Dave & Oprah "love child" sketch is talked about. Dave seemed like he was having a tough time explaining what he was going through emotionally, but it's understandable considering he's the biggest star on his network and they're (according to him) were trying to take over the show's direction. He felt uncomfortable with some people's laugh because he thought they were laughing at him and not with him. He also mentions how he felt somewhat betrayed by co-writer Neal Brennan after he made comments about Dave not being "well" and that he never showed much attention to him after he went to Africa. Hmm...
- VH1's Behind the Music: Guns N' Roses
I was reading 411 Music's Steve Mogan a few days ago and I couldn't stop thinking about how awesome GNR was. Thankfully VH1 decided to air my favorite Behind the Music episode of GNR. However, Mogan covers MORE of the earlier stuff that I never knew, so big thumbs up for him. Read both of his excellent work over at the Music Zone. He's a new guy, too. All I have to say to the young kid is to keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars, kid. You've got potential. Now if he does one on Stone Temple Pilots or Smashing Pumpkins, I will be a hooked reader of his.
- Hitman Hart: Wrestling with Shadows
Another new addition to my DVD collection thanks to recording it off the Documentary channel (didn't know I had it until I saw the preview). Anyway, wrestling fans should already be familiar with this AMAZING documentary, so I won't say much other than it was on TV Sunday night.
- Date My Mom returns
Damn, I thought I somehow managed to get rid of this show several months back in the fall. The show returned with several airings late last week and it was just as bad as I remember it. I have heard a rumor about a Date My Mom inspiring a new porn film entitled Date My Slut Mom. Well, it's not like I didn't expect it. All I know is that it better have Kianna Dior, Harley Rain, Kobe Tai, Janine, Austin Kincaid, etc. in it.
The VICIOUS TV Mini-Wrap:
- Gilmore Girls [01.31.06]: "Friday Night's Alright For Fighting"
This week's episode revolves around Lorelai trying her best to accept the fact that Luke has a daughter. Ugh. It's like the writers of this show are dumb fucks now! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, Lorelai has a 21-year-old daughter, so shouldn't Luke be all upset over that! He lied to you, get over it! The best part of Lorelai/Luke this week was definitely Bebet & Miss Patty, along with the rest of the town, snooping in on Luke & his daughter. Hilarious stuff. Meanwhile, Rory takes over for Paris as editor over at the Yale school newspaper and it's crunch time. Of course, just to annoy me even further with his appearance, Logan is the only person in the entire world who can save the day. Rory is happy that he does, and you can pretty much guess where this is going, right? The final sequence of the episode sees the Gilmores have several discussions over their past and current problems. They even had a rooming camera moving around, which was annoying as hell (works best on "Arrested Development"). Next week looks like either Rory will tell Lorelai that she's pregnant or getting married to Logan. Then again, it could all be an attempt to lure viewers in for something big and not deliver. I'll go with the latter. ****
- The OC [02.02.06]: "The Cliffhanger" (funny title)
Sandy struggles to deal with his business partner because of his strategy to seduce the daughter of a wealthy business man in order to manipulate a deal out of him. Seth continues to delve into drugs, although Summer finally figures out that something is wrong with him after he LOVED Save the Last Dance. Also, Julie continues her pursuit of Dr. Roberts (Summer's dad) by setting him up on a date. Of course, she spies on him and Dr. Roberts ends up realizing how much they like each other. Finally, Marissa writes a letter to Johnny, most likely telling him that she only likes him as a friend, which drives him to drink and to climb up a really big rock. Marissa & Ryan come to save him, but Johnny stumbles off the rock. OMG! Everyone just stands there instead of calling 911. Excellent episode and one of the best of the season. I wasn't digging the Sandy storyline, but everything else clicked well. Julie is hilarious when she isn't busy being a bitch, so that's always a plus. ****1/2
- My Name Is Earl [02.02.06]: "Something To Live For"
Earl tries to repay a guy named Philo (played by Adam Goldberg) he stole gasoline from last year, but it turns out that Earl's stealing ended up saving Philo's life as he was trying to kill himself with his car's exhaust fumes. Earl tries to give Philo a reason to live, so he tries getting Catalina to makeout with him. She refuses, but it seems that Philo has a girl he is interested in. Of course, Earl & Randy try to hook him up, but it turns out that the girl he loves is JOY! OMFG! Meanwhile, Joy and Darnelle are squabbling over her being jealous about his love for ass magazines. Earl uses this to his advantage and gets Joy to have a date with Philo in order to make Darnelle jealous. It works. Earl fears that Philo has gone off to kill himself, but it seems that he has something to live for now -- he now has friends. Aww. Philo invites Earl & Randy to come over to watch wrestling tapes from when he used to wrestle his sister. They had some very close matches. Excellent stuff and perhaps my favorite episode yet. Well, I still love "Faked His Own Death" a WEE bit more, but this was still awesome! *****
- The Office [02.02.06]: "Boys and Girls"
Jan (Michael's boss) is holding a seminar for only the women of the office. Of course, Michael feels left out and tries to crash it, but he gets kicked out for his troubles. So he decides to take the boys to the warehouse for his own seminar. This really makes Jim uncomfortable because he runs in to Pam's boyfriend. It seems that he knows about his crush for Pam, but he thinks that is over with. That got my heart pumping. Anyway, Michael and the guys talk things over with the workers downstairs and it seems that they are thinking about forming a union. Of course, Jan shoots down that idea. However, Michael continues to try and bond with the guys down there by "working" the machines and that doesn't go very well. Next up, Michael buys pizza because EVERYONE loves pizza. Can't argue with that logic. So-so episode. ***1/2
TV on DVD News:
- Superman returns to DVD!!!
I am ashamed to have forgotten to report this bit of news last week, but according to the http://www.SupermanHomepage.com and last week's TV Guide, Superman the Animated Series will be coming back to DVD at the end of the year with a BRAND NEW FEATURE FILM!!! The plot seems to have something to do with Brainiac, so I'm PRAYING to god that they keep the continuity of the Lex fusing with Brainiac storyline from JLU.

The VICIOUS TV Babe of the Week: Erica Durance
Erica Durance plays Lois Lane on the WB's Smallville. She does a decent enough job, but she is definitely one hot momma. One shocking thing about her is that she has appeared topless before in the film The House of the Dead. Check out the screens here (I have a no-nude policy).
- I was hoping to get The Simpsons: The Complete 5th Season DVD review done for yesterday, but I have been busy with stuff. Look for it later in the week (I'm shooting for Thursday).
