The Tasty Evil TV News 03.02.06

What's the word on Alias? Lots of Dancing with the Stars action, a great theory on the mysteries of Lost and more TV recaps.
So I finally finished watching the first season of Battleship Galactica and I gotta say, I enjoyed this much more than Firefly. Sure, it doesn't have the Whedon humor but this does a much better job presenting a low-tech, "dirty" vision of space travel (I won't say "of the future" and those who know the twist of the original series will understand why) that counters the sterile shininess of the Star Trek universe. The first half of the second season is out on DVD now and if the puppet masters here at 411 movies allow and if it hasn't been done (and if I'm not too lazy), maybe I'll do a review of it. Check it out if you can, Xena is on it now!

News
Changes to Alias
Good news and bad news for the retiring series this week. Good news is ABC has moved the show to the 8pm Wednesday slot, pairing it up again with Lost, which gave the show its best ratings last season (although this time, it will be Lost's lead-in, not its follow up). The bad news is, ABC has cut its order on the show, meaning there will only be eight episodes as opposed to 13. The show returns with a two hour episode on April 19th (Invasion also returns that night at 10, completing ABC's sci-fi trifecta). On a related note, Victor Garber (Jack Bristow, or as I refer to him, Older Jack Bauer) landed a role on Bruckheimer's pilot "American Crime" for FOX.
Trump vs Martha stunt backfires hard
All the press in the last two weeks revolving around the Martha Stewart/Donald Trump feud was expected to translate into huge ratings for the new season of The Apprentice but no one told that to the Neilsen families. The Monday night premiere came last in everything that matters– total viewers and the 18-49 demographic. In fact, it was the lowest-episode ever for the franchise which sounds even worse when said episode is the season premiere. It could be the timeslot change from Thursday nights or maybe just over exposure from the feud. Unlike with the Olympics, NBC can't blame American Idol this time.
EW's Lost Theory
Entertainment Weekly's Jeff Jensen has come up with a theory on the secret of Lost in this week's edition of the magazine and to be quiet honest, I wish I hadn't read it. Given the events of last night's episode, Jensen's ideas are highly plausible. Other theories have been thrown around but they've mostly been broad abstract ideas (Purgatory, science experiment, aliens ect). I won't give much away but this one, I feel is the most thought out and least ridiculous one and if it comes true, I will have felt cheated (with only myself to blame). Check it out here if you're curious
Dancing with the Stars News
• What a shitty year for Nick Lachey. His wife's career surpasses his, they divorce, he demands alimony (which either emasculates him or makes him the most envied man on Earth), and now his tag-along brother Drew gets the spotlight for once, winning the "championship" on one of the hottest shows of the season with partner Cheryl Burke. Many expected Stacy Keibler, the breakout star, to win but the final two came down to Lachey and Jerry Rice.
• The Winter Olympics had just as much trouble with Dancing on Sunday as it did Idol. The 12.3 million viewers for the closing ceremonies was about 15 million less than those who tuned in for Dancing's finale.
• Contestant Master P is facing gun charges and could face a few years of jail time if found guilty.
• Rumors are going around that Lisa Rinna, a popular contestant from this season, will become the new host next year, replacing Samantha Harris. There are also rumors that Rinna's husband Harry Hamlin (L.A.Law) will follow wifey's footsteps as a contestant on the next installment. Lisa Rinna's a MILF. Let's look at some pics.
Now let's have a little gratioutuous Stacy Keibler action.

Tasty/Evil Caplets
Smallville "Cyborg" (I know, this is a week late)
3-Sentence Recap:
Victor Stone, a guy Clark knew from his football days escapes from a lab where experiments where performed on him to give him bionic implants. Clark helps Victor hide from the evil scientists and discover that Lex has a role in the experiments. Martha meanwhile, is blackmailed by people how know Clark's secret.
Tasty:
This episode was a treat for comic fanboys like myself who actually know who Victor Stone is (although viewers of Teen Titans should be familiar with him too). Cyborg was one of the least likely characters to get a Smallville translation but it was one of the cooler episodes of the series (much better than the Flash ep.). With his comic and cartoon appearance being as it is, you wouldn't think they could bring him into live action without looking ridiculous but the writers found a brilliant way around it (X-ray vision). The final line of the show uttered by Lionel Luthor was a wonderfully chilling omen of things to come.
Kal-El
Evil:
Don't fall for it Martha!!! Lionel is EVIL!!!!!
Lost "Maternity Leave"
3-Sentence Recap:
When baby Aaron gets sick, Claire starts to remember what happened to her in the two weeks she was held prisoner by the Others. Claire and Kate set out to find the French woman to lead them to the lab where she was held to find a cure for the baby but the lab is already empty by the time they get there. Meanwhile on the beach, Eko finds out about the secret prisoner in the hatch and demands to talk to him.
Tasty:
Good to see the writers actually remembered that Claire was once kidnapped and fill in the blanks…a little.
