Opening Segment - Introduction
Hello and welcome to another edition of the TV News Wrap. There were plenty of controversial TV news stories this week. Unfortunately, Rosie O'Donnell went on spring break last week and did not shoot her mouth off again. But let's get to another outspoken commentator under fire in shock-jock Don Imus.

Top Story

  • Don Imus under fire
Last week, legendary shock-jock Don Imus managed to put his foot in his mouth yet again. This time, Imus made some rather racist and sexiest comments regarding the women's Rutgers basketball team which was playing for the NCAA women's basketball championship against the Tennessee Lady Vols. Imus was watching some highlights of the Rutgers team and he made some jokes about the females on that team. Imus specifically pointed out that the women were big and tattooed, but his later comments were what really set things off. Imus called the Rutgers team "nappy-headed hoes." This led to leaders in the African-American community, such as the Reverend Al Sharpton and Reverend Jesse Jackson, to call for Imus to be fired from MSNBC and CBS radio.

On late Monday afternoon yesterday, NBC suspended the "Imus in the Morning" simulcast for two weeks starting April 16th. MSNBC airs an "Imus in the Morning" simulcast during 5:30AM-9AM EST. Earlier in that day, Imus made a somewhat tearful apology during his program and then he went on Al Sharpton's radio program. Sharpton was very harsh on Imus and they got into an argument later on during the program.

I don't think Imus is a racist and anyone who watches/listens to his program will know that. He's good friends with people like former Tennessee Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. Ford credits Imus in talking him into getting into the race for Senator Bill Frisk's Senate seat in November 2006. The thing about Imus is that he is an equal opportunist who takes shots at everyone. A few weeks ago, Imus made a comment regarding current U.S. Attorney Alberto Gonzales where Imus said that Gonzales should mow the grass at the White House. That didn't make the news, but he makes fun of everyone. He called Venus and Serena Williams "apes." He constantly refers to Arabs as "rag-heads" and refers to New York Senator (D) Hillary Clinton as "Satan." Imus shouldn't be fired over these comments, especially since he has been very apologetic since he made the comments. However, the only people who should judge the I-Man are the Women's Rutgers basketball team. Imus wants to meet with the Rutgers team and their parents to make an apology. If they accept, then all should be forgiven.

    Viciously Ridiculous

"Seinfeld" co-creator and star of HBO's excellent "Curb Your Enthusiasm" Larry David has been in contact with the New York Jets. Now what would Larry David have to do with the Jets? Well, he's a huge fan of the team and he's been giving the team advice on what to do during the upcoming NFL draft!

After Rosie called him a bunch of names, Bill O'Reilly responded by doing segments on O'Donnell's 9/11 comments on every show he did last week! Will Rosie respond tomorrow? Or will Rosie shut up like she did when the Donald went after her? We will find out Tuesday morning when she returns to "The View."

KFC offered Sanjaya from "American Idol" $5000 to get bowl haircut. Sanjaya has declined the rather generous offer, unfortunately. By the way, Sanjaya is still in the running to win this season of "American Idol" after surviving last week's elimination round. Will he win it? We will see…

    The Wrap-Up

That it's for this week. I will be back again next Tuesday with the new format of the TV News Wrap. Stay tuned to 411mania for the rest of the great news reports.
