The VICIOUS TV News Wrap 05.01.07

Opening Segment - Introduction
Hello and welcome to another edition of the TV News Wrap.

Top Story

  • Rosie is out!
Last week, "The View" co-host Rosie O'Donnell announced on the show that she and ABC were unable to come to terms on a new contract deal. Rosie said she wanted another one-year deal to stay on the show, but ABC wanted her to sign a three-year deal. Over the weekend, the New York Post reported that O'Donnell was leaving "The View" after failing to get co-host Barbara Walters fired. However, the ladies addressed these rumors on Monday's program and it's pretty hard to argue against Rosie and Barbara's response.

The fact is Walters owns part of "The View," so ABC would have had to buy out her share in the show in order to give into Rosie's supposed demands. Then there's the rumor that both ABC and Walters wanted to give Rosie the boot, which does make a lot of sense to me. Donald Trump made a few comments about how fake Walters was towards Rosie when she announced her departure. Trump compared it to when Walters said how much she loved Star Jones when Star announced her departure last year on "The View." If you remember Jones was not supposed to comment on the situation but did so anyway and this led to Walters firing Star that day. One of the things that amused me regarding Rosie's departure was that a bunch of "white men" are happy she's gone and are taking credit for her departure from "The View."

The thing about this situation is that I'm 100% sure ABC wanted to dump Rosie into the toilet (where she belongs) because of her increasingly radical political comments on "The View." Remember, ABC is owned by DISNEY and they're all about portraying a clean, family image. When you have Tokyo Rosie running around claiming 9/11 was an inside job and that "radical Christianity" is as much of a danger to our country as radical Islam, you're going to have some headaches. Rosie wanted a one-year deal and if she was as big of a hit on the show ABC would have gladly given her what she wanted. Maybe she's trying to cover up that she wanted a lot of money for that one year of service, but I doubt. I'm glad she's gone because if ABC paid her what amount of money she wanted, Rosie probably would have taken the money and invested it in another Broadway theater show starring AIDs riddled fag Boy George.

    Random TV News

  • Who will replace Tokyo Rosie?
Now that the America-hating witch is gone, who will take her place? ABC has already written up a list of top candidates. The list includes the recently fired Joan Rivers, Kathie Lee Gifford, Whoopi Goldberg and Roseanne Barr. TV insiders are pointing to Roseanne being ABC's first choice for replacing the other Rosie. If ABC wants the same thing they have with O'Donnell, then picking Roseanne is the way to go. Roseanne, in my opinion, would be a great co-host on the show because she can stand on her own and has experience hosting her own talk show. Sure, it bombed, but what did you expect? Katie Lee would be a horrible choice, but she's a big name. Whoopi needs a Rosie to be interesting because she is boring as hell by herself. Don't get me started on Joan Rivers. She'll probably melt under the hot lights on the set. We'll keep you up to date on any of the latest news when it becomes available.

  • Matthew Fox wants out of "Lost"?
It looks like former "Party of Five" and current star of "Lost" Matthew Fox is gearing up to leave his hit ABC program in favor of the big screen. Now this can be viewed as a really stupid move right now because Fox isn't that big of a star to make a seamless transition to the big screen. I mean, any time a TV star has jumped into the big screen it's been a hit or miss. It's easier for movie stars to become TV stars like Charlie Sheen or Steve Carell. However, there are a few exceptions to the rule. Jim Carrey, Will Farrell and Adam Sandler all come to mind. But those guys are comedic geniuses. Matt Fox has good looks, but Hollywood is full of guys like him. He has a steady gig on "Lost" and he should let it go right now until the show goes under.

  • Baldwin has a temper
Last week, I reported about "30 Rock" star Alec Baldwin's phone message for his 11-year-old daughter and how he went off on her. Baldwin made an appearance on Friday on "The View" to talk it out with Barbara Walters and Rosie O'Donnell. Baldwin pretty much played the whole thing down and blamed most of the situation with his daughter on his ex-wife Kim Basinger. However, the current issue of Star Magazine has an interesting story from a plane passenger who reportedly witnessed Baldwin losing his cool with his daughter a while back. The man says Baldwin went off on his daughter for not packing her stuff correctly and that the man was going to snap a picture of the situation when Baldwin threatened him. Let's hope Baldwin can get his relationship going with his daughter soon.

  • Studio 60 Lives!
After months of being rumored to have been axed by NBC, "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" is set to return on May 24, which is a Thursday at 10PM. The show arrived in the fall as the most hyped program on any of the networks' schedules. Unfortunately, the show was clubbered in the ratings by its competition and it never found traction afterwards. Six episodes of the show remain unaired, and a next season return depends on how it does on Thursdays.

    Viciously Ridiculous

It's now time for the most ridiculous items of the TV world this week.

The NHL playoffs are in full swing in the second round with my New York Rangers down 2 games to 1 against the best team in the league the Buffalo Sabers. In the NBA, my Orlando Magic were swept in round one by the Detroit Pistons while my Chicago Bulls swept the defending NBA Champions the Miami Heat without much trouble.

I was watching VH1's Celebrity Fit Club: Men vs. Women and I was annoyed because of Dustin "Screech" Diamond's behavior. He complained about nearly everything and was a total ass to everyone. In the preview for next week's show, Diamond threatens to quit the show. I forgot who zinged him, but I think it was the black American Idol girl who said Diamond was the real loser because he has to sell t-shirts to pay for his house and releases a sex tape in order to get attention. ZING!!!

There have been some internet rumors regarding "The Simpsons Movie" in which Bart will reportedly go all natural in one of the scenes. I wonder what the movie's rating will be. Plus, if Bart does show some skin it will probably be his ass, which he has already done on a number of occasions on the series. Speaking of which, the Simpsons made their first television appearance on the Tracy Ullman Show back on April 19, 1987. When will the series end?

    The Wrap-Up

That's it for this week's edition. Please join me again next week for another edition of the TV News Wrap. By the way, I made a special guest appearance on Ryan Latimer's "Fact or Fiction: Politics" on Monday. He's a good guy who has his head on straight. Plus, he's a published author, so that helps.
