Opening Segment - Introduction
Hello and welcome to another edition of the TV News Wrap. I'm going to do things a little different this week due to being super busy with work and finals. The networks have begun to announce their fall 2007 lineups and they're not as interesting, in my opinion, as past years. We'll kick off our full-coverage by covering the CW network…

The Fall lineups
After having a mildly successful television season in fall 2006, the CW has begun to cut out the fat of their lineup. The first to go was "Gilmore Girls," which had its series finale last Tuesday (I missed it due to my boycott of the show). "7th Heaven" is not coming back and now "Veronica Mars" is also dead. "Veronica Mars" being cancelled is no big surprise due to the show's inability to bring in an audience. There were some rumors that the network was interested in hitting the fast-forward button on the series which would see Veronica Mars working as an FBI agent. Unfortunately, the series will not continue and I'm not sad to see it go. Other CW shows receiving the ax are "All of Us," which is co-produced by Will Smith.
CW shows returning for another season include "Smallville," "Supernatural," "One Tree Hill," "Girlfriends," "The Game" and "Everybody Hates Chris." "One Tree Hill" will receive a slight tune-up as the series will skip forward a few years to see all of the characters' lives after college. I'm curious to see where the series goes, but I haven't seen enough of the show the past two seasons to really care as much as I should.
There are some new series from the CW, but nothing stands out. Well, with the possible exception of "The Reaper." Let's face it, a drama about the devil's bounty hunter sounds cool. Another new show is "Gossip Girl" from "The O.C." creator Josh Schwartz and "Aliens in America," which is about a teenage Pakistani Muslim living in the United States. Can you say CANCELED? "Online Nation" and "CW Now" will round up the CW's new Sunday night lineup. There are other shows being picked up by the CW, but they're still untitled so we'll report on those later on.
I'll be covering FOX's lineup next week.
Random TV News
"The Office" star injured
The lovely and very talented Jenna Fischer suffered a fractured back after slipping on some steps. Many have already made the obvious jokes that Jenna is extremely fragile, but she's pretty and seems like a nice person. Sure, Fischer was air brushed to death for her semi-nude pictorial cover spread on Wired Magazine, but she's still the girl next door in my eyes. Yummy…
Donald Trump quits
Instead of taking the cancellation of his show like a man, Donald Trump has decided to tell NBC to stick it by quitting the show. Although Trump officially used the terms "moving on" in order to save face. There were some rumors that Trump and series creator Mark Burnett would likely take the show to another network if it was canceled by NBC. From what I have read, the show will likely die quietly into the night and not jump to another network.
Kelly Clarkson likes Lindsay Lohan music?
The first "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson is frustrated with her record company, RCA Records, over the fact that they wanted her to cover some Lindsay Lohan songs. Clarkson said the following to MTV News: "My label literally sent me a Lindsay Lohan track from her last album and wanted me to record it for my new album. And while I like Lindsay Lohan, like I'm cool with her and I think she sings the song well... it's already been on an album. I don't care what pop star it is."

Viciously Ridiculous
My girl Paris Hilton's time in jail, originally scheduled for 45 days in jail, has been reduced to just 23 days. Why was her sentence reduced? Well, obviously it's because of Paris' "good behavior." Not only that, but Hilton will stay in a cell that is specifically for celebrities and police officers. It's not "general population" for those of you who have seen "Oz."
VH1 is already gearing up a sequel to their very successful "I Love New York" reality program. This time, New York searches for love all over again. Will it happen? I doubt it...
