The VICIOUS TV News Wrap 06.05.07
Posted by Steve Vicious on 06.05.2007

- Written in front of a not-so-live audience @ 411studios in California

Opening Segment - Introduction
Hello and welcome to another edition of the TV News Wrap. Today's edition is a very special one because it's the season finale of 411mania's longest running TV news report. I usually take my vacation from the TV news reporting business in the summer due to the lack of news. However, I will focus on DVD reviews in order to make up for my lack of television news coverage. Of course, most of it will be TV DVD reviews and that's what I do best. As for the TV News Wrap, it will return on August 7th, 2007 to 411movies. While I'm gone, I will definitely polish my TV News Wrap in order to give it a much needed face lift. So let's get to our top story of the day…

Top Story

  • Paris Hilton goes to jail
So Paris Hilton is finally in jail to serve her 23-day sentence for violating her probation. The great thing about the situation is that Hilton is getting what she so rightfully deserves. I don't care what people say, she committed a crime and she should not receive special treatment from anyone. However, the shocker for me was that this attention whore decided to turn herself in a day earlier than expected. Many of her critics were expecting Hilton to walk into jail with a bible in one hand and some big sunglasses on her face. But it looks like sneaking into jail is one way of showing how she has changed. Or it could be that her mother finally put her foot down and didn't want her daughter exploiting this situation. Let's hope Paris learns her lesson for good.

    Random TV News

  • Victoria Beckham's reality show on hiatus
Victoria Beckham, wife of soccer superstar David Beckham, has decided to put her NBC reality show on hold. The six-episode series will follow Beckham's move from England to Los Angeles, California. Reportedly Beckham decided to put the show on hold in order to spend more time with her family. There's a rumor that the six-episode series could be turned into a one-hour special instead because Beckham hasn't been around to the states as much as NBC would have liked.

  • "The Apprentice" still alive?
NBC has asked Donald Trump and Mark Burnett for a one-week extension on their decision on what will occur with the "The Apprentice." When NBC announced their plans for the fall, "The Apprentice" wasn't mentioned and Donald Trump decided to state that he was "moving on" from the show. Also, Mark Burnett claimed that the show will continue no matter if it's on NBC or another network.

  • Enough of "On the Lot"?
It looks like FOX is getting close to pulling the much-hyped Mark Burnett/Steven Spielberg reality competition show "On the Lot" due to low ratings. FOX hasn't canceled the series yet, but they have dropped the Monday episodes of the show and it will now focus solely on the Tuesday night edition. I doubt FOX will cancel the show before it is finale because it has two huge names attached to the project.

  • Kelly Clarkson battles record label
Rumor has it that the first "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson is currently in the middle of a huge feud with RCA chairman Clive Owen over the content of music in Clarkson's upcoming third disc, "My December." Word is that Clarkson assumed total artistic control over "My December" and that infuriated Owen. Clarkson's 2004 hit "Breakaway" was a major success by selling over 10 million copies and some of its major hits were created by Clarkson. However, Clive Owen hated some of the hits such as "Because of You" and "Behind These Hazel Eyes". Clarkson has stuck to her guns, and this comes as a big surprise because she could easily walk away from Sony BGM to get a better deal elsewhere. Right now Clarkson only makes $250,000 an album, which is ludicrous because she could make millions elsewhere.

  • Spicing up "Dancing with the Stars"
The fifth season of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" is already being planned over at the network. Tori Spelling, daughter of the late, great Aaron Spelling, is in negotiations to appear on the show. But right now, the first star to officially sign on for season five of DWTS is Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown. Currently, Brown is in a paternity battle with movie star Eddie Murphy. However, Brown is best remembered for being apart of the British pop group the Spice Girls back in the 90's.

  • Battlestar Galactica coming to an end…
It looks like internet geeks like myself everywhere will now cry foul after Sci-Fi network announced on Friday that their critically acclaimed series "Battlestar Galactica" will not return past a fourth season. The rumors of the show's demise have been circulating for months and it now seems that they have finally come to fruition. The demise is reportedly due to the creators' wishes, not the network. Let's hope the show gets the proper send-off it deserves.

  • "Law & Order" cast changes again?
Former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson has decided to pull out of the upcoming season of "Law & Order" in what many are looking as his first big move to beginning his chase for the White House in 2008. Thompson is currently debating whether or not he should enter the race to win the Republican nomination next year. With Thompson gone, "Law & Order" will see Jeremy Sisto, who guest starred in the season finale as a district attorney, promoted to a series regular. Sisto will replace Milena Govich, who was on the show for two years after replacing the departed Jerry Orbach.

    Viciously Ridiculous

It's now time for the most ridiculous item of the television news week. First up…

With Paris Hilton heading off to the "big house" this week, she decided to make a guest appearance at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards. Host Sarah Silverman decided to give it to Hilton for a bit. Silverman mentioned how the guards would try to make Hilton more comfortable in her cell by painting the bars to resemble penises. When the camera panned into Paris' facial expression, it looked like she was fighting back tears. The clip was removed by Viacom, so you know…
