The VICIOUS TV News Wrap 09.11.07
Posted by Steve Vicious on 09.11.2007

- Written in front of a not-so-live audience @ 411studios in California

Opening Segment - Introduction
Hello, and welcome to another edition of the TV News Wrap. We're in the twilight of the summer season and we're about to get ready launch another television season. However, am I the only person NOT excited about this upcoming season of television? I remember when I would have my calendar marked down with the premiere dates for my shows, but now it's like whatever. I'll discuss it in further detail next Tuesday because we have a full plate of juicy stuff to cover. This past weekend, MTV held its annual Video Music Award show in Las Vegas and that's our top story…

Top Story

  • The MTV Video Music Awards 2007
While I hate the channel and everything it stands for, I do love music and the VMAs have always given me some fond memories. This year, however, the show will be noticeable for the way the artists behaved themselves at the show – both on screen and behind the scenes. Let's start off with the main event, which was Britney Spears' "comeback" performance by singing "Gimme More", her newest single. Unfortunately for Ms. Spears, her performance left a lot to be desired. In fact, the other artists in the audience were seen laughing throughout her performance and I highly doubt they were laughing WITH her. They were probably laughing at the fact that Britney was clearly lip-synching throughout her performance. Britney also seemed to be out of synch with her fellow backup dancers. It was just a train wreck of a performance and it will probably go down as the nail in the coffin, unless her upcoming new album manages to sell well. On the positive, Spears looked pretty good, but not as good as she used to look.

Let's move on to the big fight between Tommy Lee and Kid Rock for Pamela Anderson. The fight was triggered after Kid Rock ignored Tommy Lee, which led to Lee yelling "Yo, what?" Kid Rock then gave Lee a taste of the back of his hand and then he hit him again. In an interview with "The Insider," Lee said that Kid Rock was acting "childlish" and that he was about to put Kid Rock in the "emergency room." That's crazy stuff. Overall, it was just another typically chaotic show at the Video Music Awards.

    Random TV News

  • "High School Musical" star nude?
Vanessa Hudgens, star of the wildly Disney film/musical "High School Musical", has had nude images of her pop up on the internet recently. The 18-year-old star sent the images to her boyfriend, Zac Efron. Unfortunately, I have sent sleepless nights searching for the images and I came up with NOTHING! What's going on here? There's also a People Magazine feature where their source tells them that Hudgens sent Drake Bell some nude images two years ago. Luckily for Vanessa, early reports stated that Disney was going to fire her over the images, but Disney has since gone on the record by saying they won't do such a thing thanks to the success of "High School Musical 2".

  • The Simpsons goes "Star Wars"
There's a ton of hype surrounding the season premiere of "Family Guy" because it's going to be based on the "Star Wars" universe. However, the folks over at CollegeHumor.com have created their own "Star Wars" parody starring television's first family, The Simpsons. Enjoy!

  • Paris Hilton sues Hallmark
The heiress is suing Hallmark for using her likeness without her permission on a card. The card in question says "Paris' First Day as a Waitress" and it has a cartoon waitress with Paris Hilton's face on it. The waitress says, "Don't touch that, it's hot. What's hot? That's hot." Hilton is seeking $100,000 in damages.

  • Edie Falco comes to "30 Rock"
Former "Oz" and "The Sopranos" star Edie Falco will be guest starring on a three-episode arc on NBC's "30 Rock" this season. "I have laughed out loud at this show, and I am thrilled for the opportunity to work with such great comic actors," Falco told Zap2it.com. Falco isn't the only big name appearing on the best show on television. Jerry Seinfeld is also set to appear on the show! That's going to be huge because it will mark Seinfeld's return to MUST SEE TV Thursday night since "Seinfeld" said farewell nearly a decade ago.

  • Rosie reviews season 11 of "The View"
E! Online reported that Rosie O'Donnell watched the eleventh season premiere of her old show, "The View." "It was good. Whoopi was good. It was OK," said O'Donnell. Rosie did criticize the new set design for the show by saying it "was an error in judgment."

    Viciously Ridiculous

It's not time for the most ridiculous items of the television world this week. First up…

Before her awful performance, Britney Spears was reportedly warned by MTV that she must behave herself while Las Vegas or else her performance would be cancelled. But it seems Britney decided to ignore those warnings as she was seen partying all over Vegas during the weekend. She must have seen all those commercials during the week leading to the VMAs which promoted her comeback performance.

Another ridiculous thing that occurred at the VMAs was Sarah Silverman's opening segment which included a few digs at Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. But the dig at Spears was little too much for people to stomach. Silverman was talking about Spears being a mother and that her babies came out of a clean-shaven vagina. Silverman then turned her head sideways and stretched her lips as far as they could to make it look like an actual vagina. It's hard for me to be offended by Sarah Silverman because she's cute as a button.

But the most ridiculous item of the week is Kanye West claiming that he will never return to MTV because he didn't win any moon men awards Sunday night. "Give a black man a chance," says Kanye to MTV. Indeed, give a black man a chance, MTV.
