Opening Segment - Introduction
Hello, and welcome to the Vicious TV News Wrap. It's another week of television news to cover, so let's get to it…
Top Story
NBC closes its YouTube channel
It looks like one the biggest websites on the net is about to head into the twilight of its life as NBC has decided to close its channel on YouTube. NBC made this move in order to start preparing for their partnership with NewsCorp on a video download application and co-launching the Hulu website. Clearly this will hurt YouTube because with NBC onboard their website, there wasn't much fuss over NBC copyright issues. NBC also made the jump from YouTube to their own service in order to have more control over their content. Could this signal the end of YouTube? Who knows…
Random TV News
Jon Stewart signs extension
Comedy Central and Jon Stewart have reached a deal to keep Stewart on board until 2010. The move isn't much a surprise since Stewart is one of Comedy Central's most popular acts and he is also a huge part of the success Stephen Colbert has had. There are no other details like how much Stewart is getting paid for and stuff like that.
Ghost Whisperer gets a new member
Orlando Jones, former "Mad TV" actor, will be joining the cast of CBS' "Ghost Whisperer" starting this November. There's no word on whether or not he will guest star on some episodes or if it is a full-time gig. Jones is kind of an odd fit for this type of show, but I think he has the acting range to pull off something good on "Ghost Whisperer".
That was Short
CBS' "Viva Laughlin" was just cancelled due to receiving scathing reviews from the critics and for low ratings during its brief two episode run. The first episode pulled in just over 8 million viewers while the Sunday episode didn't even get a 2.0 rating. CBS did the right thing on canceling this abortion of a show.
The Starter Wife comes back
USA Network has picked up the mini-series starring "Will & Grace" star Debra Messing "The Starter Wife" for a series order. The series managed to pull in good numbers during its run and it also scored big with the critics, getting several Emmy nominations. This is good news for Debra Messing because there aren't many TV stars that can reproduce the success they once had on a new show.

Viciously Ridiculous
It's now time for the most ridiculous item of the television world this week.
Stephen Colbert is running for President and he has just named his running mate as the infamous Senator Larry Craig. Craig was busted over the summer for trying to solicit sex from an undercover male cop in a restroom. Let's hope Colbert can carry that slug to a victory for AMERICA!!!
