The VICIOUS TV News Wrap

- Written in front of a not-so-live audience @ 411studios in California

Opening Segment - Introduction
Hello, and welcome to the Vicious TV News Wrap. I was unable to appear last week due to internet connection problems, but it has all been fixed now. It seems my laptop's firewall was preventing my phone's internet connection from running as it normally runs. So let's get to this week's episode…

Top Story

  • NBC pressures Conan to come back first
NBC is reportedly pressuring "Late Night" host Conan O'Brien to be one of the first late-night talk show hosts to return from the WGA strike. NBC is offering the chance to air new episodes of Conan's show during the 11:30PM timeslot currently occupied by repeats of "The Tonight Show." This would benefit both O'Brien and NBC because the time shift could be used to showcase Conan in the timeslot he is scheduled to takeover in 2009. There are also rumors that Leno and Letterman could be back on-air in early December, but nothing is carved in stone at the moment.

UPDATE: Rumors are already running rampant that a deal has been struck between the two sides. This is according to the Deadline Hollywood Daily but remember this is just a rumor.

    Random TV News

  • "The View" welcomes Obama
Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, will be co-hosting "The View" on December 5th. The all-women program has been notorious for their support of Sen. Hillary Clinton, in particular Joy Behar. Michelle Obama has been a very vocal critic of Sen. Clinton and it's sure to come out when the ladies go through their opening "Hot Topics" segment. Unfortunately, since I wrote this news report, Obama has cancelled her appearance on the show due to not wanting to piss the WGA off. So has John Edwards. Oh, the pressure of working for the little guy is something else.

  • NBC to air MMA during WGA Strike?
NBC is exploring the possibility of airing Mixed Martial Arts on their schedule while the Writers Guild continues their strike. Right now it is unclear which MMA promotion would sign a deal with NBC, but brands such as M-1 Global to K-1 to the International Fight League are on the table. Another big MMA deal is the one the Ultimate Fighting Championship is negotiating with CBS. UFC going to CBS makes sense since both CBS and Spike TV, which currently airs UFC programming on their network, are owned by Viacom. This is surely a sign that MMA is expanding to a much larger audience if these deals are reached.

  • Cast revealed for "The Apprentice"
The 14 "celebrities" for NBC's "The Apprentice" have been named recently. Former WWE Champion John Cena did not make the cut, unfortunately. Omarosa is back, Vincent Pastore from "The Sopranos", Stephen Baldwin, Gene Simmons, Nely Galan, Marliu Henner, Trace Adkins, Nadia Comaneci, Tiffany Fallon, Jennie Finch, Lennox Lewis, Piers Morgan and former UFC champion Tito Ortiz are all in the cast. It looks like this is probably the last shot "The Apprentice" has to keep the series going because if the ratings fail again, then NBC will be the ones to say "You're fired!" to Donald Trump.

  • Elizabeth Berkley sighting
Former "Saved by the Bell" star Elizabeth Berkley will be a recurring star on "CSI: Miami." Berkley will be playing Julia Winston, who is Horatio Caine's ex-wife. This is good news because Berkley has always had solid acting skills, but I'm sure she still can't get away from her "Saved by the Bell" character and "Showgirls."

  • Posh turns down ‘Sex in the City'
Victoria Beckham was recently asked to have a role in the upcoming "Sex in the City" film. However, Posh turned them down due to her grueling schedule. In case you haven't heard, Posh is back together with the Spice Girls as they go on a World Tour. Spice up your life, baby!

    Viciously Ridiculous

It's now time for the most ridiculous item of the TV world this week.

For all of the crap "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell says about the contestants, it looks like he has something the contestants can make fun of him of. Cowell recently admitted that he gets botox injections, but he also mentioned that he's not gay. Those crazy Brits.

The Hogans have split. This came as a shock to me since Hulk and Linda have been married for over 20 years. But I guess the whole Nick situation may have put even more stress on a marriage that was already shaky. We'll keep you updated on any further developments.

"Scrubs" creator Bill Lawrence was reportedly said that he does not want former guest star Tara Reid to reprise her role as Jordan's younger sister on the show. The reason is because Reid always came into work reeking of booze and smokes. If that's not ridiculous, I don't know what is…
