Peter David's Secret Invasion!
X-Factor #33 General: With a new status quo will Peter David continue to put out the most consistently good X-book on the market, or will this Secret Invasion tie in finally break the Peter-man down? Writing: To me, this issue is a mess from the top to bottom (the art really makes it shit show, more on that later). Random X-Characters Darwin and Longshot show up for seemingly no reason and take actions that have seemingly no motivation, other than that Longshot just trusts his mutant luck powers to carry him through the day. On top of this mess, SKRULLS show up to cause trouble for the recently introduced X-Characters and She-Hulk comes thundering through. To me, this is a rare misfire, as I actually am dreading the prospect of having to buy She-Hulk for the crossover between the titles. Art: As muddled as the story is, the art is five times worse. Everyone looks slightly retarded and bloated. Characters all seem to be mutants, but no the merry marvel kind, more the sideshow freak variety. I had trouble even getting through the comic as the panels were often times unclear. This look kinda works for Darwin and his weird evolutionary changes, but the rest of the faces and bodies in the book look completely abysmal. Overall Score: D+. Oh how the might have fallen.
I agree with you on this. The cover art was alot better than the inside art. It sucked ass to the 20th power. Hopefully the end storyline with make it somewhat buyable but their will always be ups and downs for writers. Unfortunately, his down has cometh on SECRET INVASION time.
