The Main Event Comic Book Reviews 9.13.08: Secret Invasion #6
Posted by Dennis Twigg on 09.13.2008

Secret Invasion #6
General: Secret Invasion hits the home stretch heading towards its climax. Do Brian Michael Bendis and Lenil Yu deliver the goods or does the Secret Invasion falter?
Writing: The issue beings strongly with a nice little narration that showcases the different locations featured during the Skrull invasion and quickly moves from there as the various plot threads come together. By the end of the issue, it's clear we do not have to worry about the plot jumping around too much. Everything is set up for a pretty major dust up between the Marvel Heroes and the Skrulls and that's just dandy. Some interesting statements by the Skrulls are made, suggesting that certain characters are still spies or compromised, but we'll have to wait another month to see what comes of it.
Art: Juggling the massive cast can never be easy and it shows. I noticed at least one character that seemed oddly faceless in the background of a character. Moreover, some of the heroes are beginning to look so blocky in the face that I was forced to do a double take and make sure they were not actually Skrulls. These artist hiccups have the unfortunate effect of impairing the flow and enjoyment of the story.
Overall Score: B. A serviceable issue in a mega-crossover I still can't help but feel that this event will result in yet another over-hyped under-delivering Marvel event.
