411 Movies Zone News Report 12.02.02
Posted by Lionel Bohbot on 12.02.2002

I hate slow weekends. There's absolutely nothing to report today. I'll scrape up a few items for you but don't expect much.

I tried Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth over the weekend and I must say it's a pretty good improvement over Just Bring It. I picked Brock Lesnar and formed a stable called The Shooters with Kurt Angle and William Regal. Does Kurt Angle shave his head at one point during the game because right now he's just the balding Angle? I won the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship at my first PPV against The Undertaker. Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, Torrie Wilson and Stacy Kiebler all turned me down. That bitch Stratus even threatened to sue if I got within 50 feet of her again. Does she not like the tattoo on my back? That's a chick magnet. On the other hand, Jazz was really into some sort of ménage a trois with me and Eddie Guerrero. That was weird.

The Rock ended my title reign at KOTR but I beat him the following night on Raw, only the rematch was non-title. Ric Flair always seems too busy to give me a title shot and I'm supposed to be an icon in WWE. Meanwhile, The Shooters are feuding with Steve Austin and Bradshaw. Triple H is nowhere to be seen which explains why RAW has been the superior show thus far.

Alright, time to get this report in before the football games begin but I will say that the Jerry Jones-Jimmy Johnson interview was the best piece of acting I've seen since Schindler's List.

NEWS, RUMORS AND OPINIONS

Red Light Runners: Producer Clark Westerman revealed that the project is back on: "The script went through a rewrite that augmented Vinnie Jones' character as well as Mickey Rourke's and the script will evolve with a great gun we have engaged to do the polish. We have a primary deal nearly complete and a couple of suitors interested in investigating augmenting the budget by coming on in a CO-pro role so its great but complex to see if everyone wants to and can play in the same sandbox." The film also stars Reservoir Dogs' Michael Madsen. (The Z Review)

The Return of the King: Early rumors have Return of the King being simultaneously released on standard format and large format (IMAX). The Guardian has a pretty interesting article up. So what does Peter Jackson think of this? "This is the way I dreamt my movie would be shown."

The Two Towers: New Line has posted the final theatrical poster.

Tomb Raider 2: New behind the scenes footage is up here. (Tomb Raiders Chronicles)

Halloween 9: Brad Loree recently confirmed a Halloween 9 project. Loree is hoping to play Michael Myers again in the ninth movie. He was also considered for the role of Jason Vorhees in Freddy vs. Jason. (The Myers Museum)

Empire: LatinoReview has a few new pics up.

Inglorious Bastards: According to sources, Bo Svenson will play the lead in Quentin Tarantino's next project. Svenson also plays a preacher in Tarantino's Kill Bill. (Aint It Cool)

MOVIES ZONE UPDATE

Solaris: Jacob Ziegler gives Solaris a positive review. Sadly, moviegoers preferred Harry Potter. Solaris finished 7th in its opening weekend. Now I'm not a big Steven Soderbergh fan but this movie deserved to be in front of Adam Sandler's latest pile of shit. The guy hasn't done anything remotely funny since Happy Gilmore.

Band of Brothers: Scott Keith takes a look at Band of Brothers in his latest SmarK DVD Rant.

411's Interactive Movies Countdown: Go vote for your favorite movie.

That does it for me.
