The Redneck Kings of Comedy make a return with their four-member show in this DVD release Blue Collar Comedy Tour: One For The Road as their final show together. This final show providing the hilarity with the band that has been together for about 20 years comes after previous DVD releases Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie and Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again.

Of course each member of this standup set has their own claims to fame, whether it be through television work, movie participation or even just other standup performances.

Perhaps the most recognizable name of the group is Jeff Foxworthy, who put the “You know you’re a redneck if … ” phrase to fame. He has been the star of his own sitcom, The Jeff Foxworthy Show, has done other standup work, was roasted by Comedy Central, has written a book and even puts together an annual calendar that my father owns.

Larry The Cable Guy may just be neck and neck at this point with Foxworthy over popularity in the group as the his recent participation as the voice of Mater in the Disney/Pixar release Cars has set the height of accomplishment among the four. Popular for the catch phrase “Git-R-Done” and the very southern sounding accent to his voice, Larry The Cable Guy has also appeared as the star of his own movie, Larry The Cable Guy: Health Inspector and was a member of the Blue Collar TV program with Foxworthy and Bill Engvall.

Engvall starred in the second season of The Jeff Foxworthy Show as a worker in the warehouse Foxworthy supervised. He will be a part of the movie Delta Farce along with Larry The Cable Guy that is slated for a 2007 release by IMDB.com. His best-known catch phrase is “Here’s your sign … ”

The fourth member of the group, who was the only one absent from constant appearances in Blue Collar TV was Ron White, always known for having a cigar in one hand and a glass of scotch in the other. His claims to fame are past standup work, including Ron White: They Call Me Tater Salad.

Blue Collar Comedy Tour: One For The Road takes place at the Warner Theater in the nation’s capital of Washington, D.C. The opening credits are shown with the sounds of Dean Martin’s “Ain’t That A Kick In The Head?”

Engvall is the first to appear on stage, and he begins by talking about his experiences while putting together, and fooling around on, his son’s trampoline. He moves onto setting his arm hair on fire while trying to burn ants and trying to grab onto monkey bars while riding a bike, just to impress fifth grade girls – when he was younger of course. He talks about his wife keeping him around and discusses breakfast food, including no matter how he makes his eggs, they always come out scrambled. He jokes about his wife going with him for his physical, trying to relieve stress after getting kicked off an airplane, the weirdness of getting massaged by a total stranger who just so happens to be a hot young blonde, the difference of impulse buying versus his wife’s list buying approach, and his adventures with his dogs.

Engvall hands the mic off to Ron White, the free hand that is, who starts off with talking about traveling with his wife. He goes on to talk about how useless Homeland Security is, and how he can come up with a better two-step system of alert compared to America’s current five-step alert program. He talks about casino gambling and Texas Hold ‘Em, picking up after his dogs and pet-friendly hotels, going to Alaska in February and making fun of Eskimos, the movie “Grizzly Man,” and his thoughts on the death penalty and convicted sex offenders.

In a surprise move, Foxworthy hits the stage as the third act (a surprise because if my recollection serves me correctly, he went on last in the previous two.) He starts off with why cheap Lasik surgery might not be the best thing in the world. He goes on about how a recent five-hour book signing at Wal-Mart prompted him to come up with redneck fashion tips that include clothing sizes, printed shorts, tattoos and the “gangster” look of young boys that have their pants too far down.

Then, Mr. “Git-R-Done” comes on, as Larry The Cable Guy was handed the microphone to talk about traveling, the rodeo, trying to get into shape and enjoying food (especially at the waffle house). He talks about being married and awaiting the arrival of his baby. He then jokes about fishing and hunting and his enjoyment of eating meat. He discusses the hilarities that occur at Wal-Mart and The Home Depot, including one man getting glued to a toilet seat at The Home Depot.

Then the other three come back on stage to join Larry The Cable Guy for the normal sit down they have, which begins with Larry The Cable Guy swiveling around in his chair. They go around telling their favorite jokes and then display some embarrassing pictures to the audience that their wives had sent in at request of the producers of the movie. Some of them looked doctored, but there were a lot there that were clearly untouched.

Special Features

Yankee Doody Dandy
This is a comedy short film where the four members of the tour go to visit the White House when Larry The Cable Guy comes up with the ingenious idea to prank the President. They go and put a bag of poo on the front stoop, light it on fire, push the doorbell and then proceed to run away. Somebody dressed up like President Bush, Steve Bridges (the person who plays Bush on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno), comes out and steps on the bag. He then scolds the comedians before letting them go. 3:33

Molding The Minds Of Young Americans
The group sits down and takes some questions from the youth of America at George Washington University. The students ask several questions, some funny and some legitimate towards parts of their comedy. Of course, there is some discussion of drinking – I mean this is a college. Want to know where “The Cable Guy” part of Larry’s name comes from? This session will let you know. This is an interesting piece that is definitely worth a view. 13:01

Blue Collar Fans
Some guy with a microphone is outside the theater hall and asks the fans of the Blue Collar boys some questions. He asks why they love the Blue Collar guys and what qualifies them to be fans. He also asks for their thoughts on the show, their favorite Blue Collar jokes, what one Blue Collar member they would take with them if stranded on a desert island and who they would vote for to be President out of the Blue Collar gang. The segment closes with fans giving their best “Git-R-Done” impression. 3:25

Behind The Scenes Of One For The Road
This goes, of course, behind the scenes. It starts with the Blue Collar members at a photo shoot for the opening credits. It moves onto the filming of the comedy short, Yankee Doody Dandy, and is very in-depth with that. A fan driving by even calls Foxworthy the white Dave Chappelle. Then they are backstage at the Warner Theater. This segment ends thanking the fans. 11:07

Photo Gallery
This feature is a gallery of the embarrassing photos shown in the program as well as pictures from the closing credits that viewers can navigate through with their remote control.

Previews
These are previews from the beginning of the DVD of Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again and the Season 3 DVD of the Comedy Central program Reno 911!.

The 411: As a fan of the Blue Collar guys, I find this to be a great show. I’m not sure if I would classify it as their best since I try to just take each performance as it is, but this will definitely please the fans of Jeff Foxworthy, Larry The Cable Guy, Bill Engvall and Ron White. For those turned off by redneck humor, this might not be for you. But if you have seen these guys before and love their work, this is a must have for your collection. And, that’s especially considering this will be their final one.
