411 Movies Feedback: What Movie Have You Seen the Most Times?
Posted by Chad Webb on 07.04.2009

As we get older and see more films, our favorites may change, but we all have those reliable titles we watch over and over again because they just never get old. We can watch them at any time no matter what mood we may be in. These titles are perfect when we want to sit back and relax. That raises 411's Movie Feedback question...

What is the name of movie you have seen the most times?

For me, it narrows down to either Masters of the Universe with Dolph Lundgren, or Rocky IV with Sylvester Stallone. When I was younger, the nearest video rental store had a small selection (it was actually a convenient store), but they had these two movies, and I would persistently beg my father to rent them time and time again. I'm sure he got tired of it after awhile/ Though my movie taste has changed over the years, I can always watch these movies at any time. Of course I haven't counted how many times exactly, but no other title comes close as far as number of viewings goes.

So what about you? What is the name of the movie you have seen the most times? Do you know how many times you have watched it? How old were you when you saw it for the first time?

Billy Madison. I can recite the entire movie from beginning to end.

Braveheart. It's gotta be over 200 times already... Worked a year and a half on 3rd shift, and on time off I'd pop that movie in and just lose 4 hours.

Posted By: Guest#6904 (Guest)  on July 03, 2009 at 11:49 PM

When I was a kid we had two video tapes, I watched them back to back over and over. They were Commando and Predator.

My brother and I watched the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie over 100 times. When the "finish that quote" quiz hit facebook, I smashed the record time of 1:20 with a 46 second performance and held the record against 10,000+ other takers until someone hacked the quiz times and got -23 hours or something. Yes, I feel cool bragging about this.

Posted By: Big Easy (Guest)  on July 03, 2009 at 11:59 PM

Dude that's a hard one. I have to say its a tie between Tommy boy and Spaceballs. I love Chris Farley and Mel brooks just the same and since I can quote every part of those movies top to bottom. ALL HAIL DA SCHWARTZ!!!

Posted By: Terry R. (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 12:06 AM

Some of my fave movies that I enjoy, no matter how many times I've seen them...

1) Rhustler's Rapsody, great cowboy movie spoof, way funnier than Blazing Saddles, imho. Tom Berenger is great.

2) Pin, you've probably never heard of it, but it has a strong cult following. Look it up on imdb.com. Cool movie about schizophrenia.

3) Dark City, just something about this movie that I love, especially after some herb.

4) Deep Blue Sea, more fun than jaws, imho. Sure it's silly, but some great death scenes, and some good suspense.

5) Siege of firebase Gloria, great vietnam movie, you probably never heard of this one either.

6) Shoot em up. The over the top violence of this movie just cracks me up.

7) Dust Devil, absolutely beautiful (ambience/landscapes/music) horror movie that takes place in South Africa/Namibia. One of my perenial faves, so beautiful in so many ways, especially for a horror movie.

Enter the Dragon, I don't even know how many times I've seen it because through ages of 4-12 I watched it constantly.

The only other movie that could be compared would be It's a Wonderful Life, which I watch every year because of the holidays.

I've seen Bloodsport over 30 times.

Posted By: Haas (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 12:28 AM

Happy Gilmore it is on TV so often that i tend to watch it when it is on. I don't know how many times I have seen i was probably about 16 or so when i saw it for the first time.

Rocky IV, probably about 30 times

Posted By: IMustBreakYou (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 12:34 AM

Terminator 2, although I probably haven't seen it in 10 years. Pulp Fiction after that, and I never want to see that movie again.

So this really isn't a "favorite" question.

Back to the Future and Ghostbusters are far ahead of everything else, I can recite those two films line for line without hesitation.

Runners Up:
Star Wars
Superman the Movie
Batman
Office Space
The Big Lebowski
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Forrest Gump

The Empire Strikes Back...easy. I had a VHS with all 3 of the original series recorded on it. Empire was first because I missed the first night of a 3-night Star Wars marathon on network TV. I tacked on Star Wars after Jedi a year or so later when it came on Encore. I used to put that tape in and watch it every night as I was lying down, so I saw Empire who-knows-how-many times. And I still love that movie from beginning to end.

Christmas Story.

Of course, many viewings can be attributed to that 24 Hour Marathon that airs on TBS on Christmas Eve..

Not sure of the exact numbers, but I'm guessing its pretty equal between Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2

Posted By: Gorsty (Registered)  on July 04, 2009 at 05:25 AM

I'm not sure, there are three contenders.

Snatch, Die Hard and Terminator 2. I'm pretty sure Snatch takes the cake. I love that movie.

Posted By: Mikael (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 06:16 AM

The Big Lebowski
The Shawshank Redemption
Anchorman
Superbad
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Role Models
The Dark Knight
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1 and 2)
Tim Burton's Batman
Remember The Titans (I just skip to the training camp at the abandoned college and it makes it a better, even shorter movie. The stuff before that is just unnecessary when you've seen it so many times)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
The Last Dragon
Home Alone
3 Ninjas and 3 Ninjas Kick Back

There's probably a lot more. I know there were plenty of movies I would watch obsessively when I was younger, can't think of them now.

Posted By: All Around Wrestling Fan (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 06:18 AM

Revenge of the nerds, big trouble in little china, zoolander, dumb and dumber. and the most watched favorite movie goes to Trading Places with dan akroyd and eddie murphy. love that movie.

Has to be one of the Disney films when I was a nipper, not sure which though. I would watch some of them at least once a day. My favourites were Basil the Great Mouse Detective and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. In recent years the films I've probably seen the most are Infernal Affairs, Unbreakable, and Arlington Road. I still occasionally watch The Emperor's New Groove and Hercules, though.

Posted By: Bimmy (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 07:31 AM

Star Wars and Road Warrior are tops, with Hunt For Red October probably 3rd if partial views count. It sucks me in every time I see it when I'm flipping through the cable guide.

Dark Knight is moving up the rankings rfast though.

"Hot Rod. Greatest movie ever."

I was afraid to post this myself. I admit it. It may not take the crown, but I've probably seen that sumbitch as many times as the entire Indiana Jones trilogy, Batman (1989) and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Secret handshake, Whiskey.

2nd movie dad got on betamax was Star Wars. Watched it it a least once every two or three weeks. Lost track after 56 viewings. And that was back in the eighties! God only knows how many times I've actually seen it.

I'm going to say The Shawshank Redemption but The Dark Knight is catching up. However, I'm not lying when I'm saying I've seen He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword at least a hundred times. That was my all-time favorite movie when I was growing up and I could still watch it today. He-Man was awesome.

By the power of Grayskull!

Slap Shot - the greatest sports movie of all time! If not simply the funniest movie of all time. I've seen it dozens of times since I was a kid.

[after meeting the Hansons]
Reggie Dunlop: Oh you cheap son of a bitch. Are you crazy? Those guys are retards!
McGrath: I got a good deal on those boys. The scouts said they showed a lot of promise.
Reggie Dunlop: They brought their fuckin' TOYS with 'em!
McGrath: Well, I'd rather have em playin with their toys than playin with themselves
Reggie Dunlop: They're too dumb to play with themselves. Boy, every piece of garbage that comes into the market and you gotta buy it!
McGrath: Reg, Reg, that reminds me. I was coachin' in Omaha in 1948 and Eddie Shore sends me this guy who was a terrible masturbator, you know, couldn't control himself. Why, he would get deliberate penalties so he could get over in the penalty box all by himself and damned if he wouldn't... you know...

In Theaters:
Kill Bill Volume 3 is the only one Ive seen 3 times.

Overall:
Star Trek 2,4,6
Back to the Future 2+3
Indiana Jones 1 and 3
Rocky 1 and 2

If your wondering why BTTF 2 and 3 and not 1, its because those played on the turner networks all the time and 1 was on I guess like a 15 year contract with NBC or something.

I think the movie I've seen the most is 'Sideways'

I first saw it when I was twelve years old and I've probably seen it like a total of twenty something times since then which was four years ago.

I've seen the Star Wars series a bunch of times too. Although I first saw those movies when I was a little kid, I haven't seen it nearly as much as Sideways.

Odd that I first watched the Star Wars series about ten years ago but I only first saw Sideways four years ago but I've seen Sideways more.

Star Wars. When I was a kid, there was a local theater that did a $0.99 matinee on Saturday and Sunday. It was in a mall that also had an arcade, so my mother would drop me off with $10 - enough for some food, some video games and Star Wars. They had that matinee for 2+ years, and I saw it maybe 40 times in those 2 years. Plus another 20+ times on DVD or TV at least.

Wrath of Khan (KHAAAAAAANNN!!!)
and...
SpaceCamp (with Lea Thompson, Tate Donovan, and Joaquin Phoenix, apparently... though he was billed as Leaf. This was the second video we ever taped, having gotten our VCR just as it came on HBO for the first time, which explains the frequency of viewing.)
