I like Reynolds, but I'm not 100% sure he will be suitable for this role. Let's just say until I see pictures or footage, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Hannibal king, deadpool and now green lantern. nice

So which Lantern is he going to be? He doesn't seem serious enough to be Jordan and just a little to old to be Rayner
Posted By: Guest#8012 (Guest) on July 11, 2009 at 05:42 AM
I'm cool with that.
Posted By: paco smith (Guest) on July 11, 2009 at 06:00 AM
Can he be both deadpool and Hal Jordan? Does anyone know if this will be a problem? Besides that seems like a good choice.

Just reboot Superman already!
Tom Welling as Superman/ Clark kent I should'nt have to exsplain why.
Cole Hauser as Lex Luther just watch Higher learning if doubt he can pull it off.
Meagen Fox as Lois Lane Because she's hot and if read the comics you know Lois is the hottest reaglar person in the Dc universe.
Hugo Weaving as Brainiac Who can play an insane, destructive and power mad machine better than him he is Agent Smith after all.

If anything, I would see him being Kyle Rainer. Hal Jordan is too much of a serious character; so, I do not see him fitting the part.
Posted By: David (Guest) on July 11, 2009 at 07:27 AM
He will be Hal Jordan, curious as to who will play Sinestro....
I hope Will Smith, only so he will be too busy for marvel to even think about using him as captain America...

I wonder which GL they're going to use in the movie.... (Hal Jordan or Kyle Rayner)
Posted By: motorhead9999 (Guest) on July 11, 2009 at 08:14 AM
if deadpool has mask.. then wes won't be confused in the box office..
long live dead lantern/green pool
Posted By: d3stro (Guest) on July 11, 2009 at 09:11 AM
I can see him as Kyle Rayner. Hal Jordan...not so much.
Posted By: MydniteSon (Guest) on July 11, 2009 at 09:12 AM
goodbye deadpool
Posted By: Guest#3211 (Guest) on July 11, 2009 at 09:37 AM
Seems more Kyle Rayner-ish than Hal Jordan. But when Reynolds cares to be, he's good. So we'll see.

How come green lantern is black in that one cartoon??
Posted By: Cj (Guest) on July 11, 2009 at 10:03 AM
"Well there goes Deadpool."
Deadpool is Marvel and Green Lantern is DC, so there's no problem with Reynolds doing both roles as far as crossovers are concerned.
I'm disappointed, but only because I was sucked in by the Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan fan trailer.

latern is the perfect comic book franchise. if reynolds doesnt want to do the sequel, you can pretty much cast ANYONE (male, female, any ethnicity) and say this person is just one of hundred other laterns.
Posted By: rey (Guest) on July 11, 2009 at 10:25 AM
well, so much for deadpool. prolly best for everyone after seeing that aborted fetus of a character they gave us in the wolverine movie. Still reynolds would have been a good Deapool

Still cant stand him in any type of character role. Should have stayed as a secondary player. Oh well, looks like I dont need to bother with this one.

I hope he can bring the same smarminess that he had in 'waiting' and 'blade trinity'
Posted By: Mikel (Guest) on July 11, 2009 at 11:42 AM
I wanted Justin. He would have brought back the sexy to Green Lantern. Why not Leto? Could've had the 30 seconds to Mars guys as Lanterns and they could have sang some rousing Green songs.

I was pulling for Cooper, but at least it's not Timberlake.

I imagine Reynolds is playing Hal Jordan, as many reports have indicated. And I imagine what separates this role from Deadpool, which isn't likely to film until mid-next year at the earliest, (it's still in early script development stages, so he can do both) is that, in Green Lantern, Reynolds will be playing a normal, straight-laced type of man.
Deadpool will be his over-the-top, Ryan Reynolds' traditional comedy-like behavior. Green Lantern will be marketed as a superhero film, first and foremost - likely with a solid supporting cast. Think "Iron Man in Space". So you may get some comedy here or there. Deadpool will be marketed almost entirely as an offbeat, comedic superhero film.
I think the bumbling fools here that think this means Deadpool isn't happening or Reynolds means it can't be Jordan are missing the entire point of taking this role from an actor's standpoint. And from a studio's standpoint, Reynolds is a marketable star - so they probably don't care either way.

"I wonder which GL they're going to use in the movie.... (Hal Jordan or Kyle Rayner)"
Or John Stewart or Guy Gardner or any of the 1,996 other Green Lanterns? (there are 2,000 total)
Anyway, my problem with this pick is that I've never seen Reynolds in a non-comedy role. Even his character in Blade was a smartass. Hal Jordan isn't exactly known for his sense of humor. He is a pretty intense guy, most definitely not one to go around dropping one-liners.

I would have rather seen Deadpool.

Earth has had many gl's
Alan Scott- the first but not an official gl
Hal Jordan- the serious and most famous
guy Gardner-the cocky rogue
Kyle rayner- the young and unsure
John Stewart- the black one

Yes!! I love Van Wilder getting the role.

As far as who should play the role of Sinestro, I'll echo the sentiments of several people who post here, and several GL fans I personally talk to. The role of SInestro should go to Hugo Weaving.
Posted By: Sinestro (Guest) on July 11, 2009 at 07:11 PM
he has done one serious role and that has been in smoking aces
Posted By: Mclovin Baby (Guest) on July 11, 2009 at 07:18 PM
i thought Green Lantern was black....
Posted By: Chris (Guest) on July 11, 2009 at 08:10 PM
If they go with Hal Jordan I really hope they make a reference or cameo by Barry Allen. That would just be awesome.

Jesus, you guys are such nerds, flocking to chat about some gay superhero movie that will flop. Enjoy life, losers.

Damn, I was hoping Bradley Cooper could further carve his niche with this one.

Now it will be straight to DVD. Fuck man!
Posted By: The Fett (Guest) on July 12, 2009 at 04:48 AM
I think you all aren't giving him enough credit. Reynolds may be a much better actor. He did play Van Wilder y'know.

Token Power.

Hal isn't all that serious. He's been in some major situations where he had to be serious, but at heart he is a wild, cocky test pilot and a real ladies man. So Ryan is a good choice.
Actually they can still use the other front runners with JT as Kyle & Cooper as Guy.
Though I'd love to get Nathan Fillion in as Guy at least. Maybe he could be the voice of Kilowog(sp?)
