[Movies] Jackie Chan Confirmed For Karate Kid Remake

Mr. Miyagi is cast…
According to Variety, Jackie Chan has officially joined the cast of Kung Fu Kid, which is the title for the remake of the Karate Kid. Chan will play the role of Mr. Miyagi, which was made famous by Pat Morita. Jaden Smith, the son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, will star in the main role that Ralph Machio played in the original films.
Filming began over the weekend in the Chinese capital of Beijing, and will be a Hollywood-Chinese co-production between Columbia Pictures and the state-run China Film Group. Before the filming started, Chan, and the entire Smith family attended what is described as a traditional Chinese ceremony to mark the start of the shoot. Will Smith is one of the producers for the film.

Shit, I havent heard about this "film" for a while I was hoping the studio gave up on it. I hate these dam remakes, something original would be nice.
Sounds like a vehicle to introduce wills son to a big audience. Machio could use the work, should have recast him.

They need to cast Joe Jackson as the evil karate instructor and Brock Lesnar as the cocky blond haired karate prick.

I know when it comes to all these Hollywood remakes and reboots the real buzzword these days is to make them "darker". I wonder if some producer took this literally and that's why Jaden Smith was cast as Daniel-san.
On another note I simply can't wait the Metro Station (or whatever other lame tween pop rock band is "cool" at the time) cover/butchering of "You're The Best Around"!

Fuck this SHIT...Karate Kid is a classic!! I don't even understand how a 8 year old character is supposed to replace an 18 year old HIGH SCHOOL character...and a heavy part of that movie is that Daniel and Miyagi are both lonely souls that find each other and become best friends....how would that not come off as utterly creepy with a little kid?? It seems like they would have to change so much to make it work...and if they have to change so much, why wouldn't they just make it it's OWN ORIGINAL KARATE FUCKING MOVIE!!

I like Will Smith's movies except when he is supposed to be a traditionally white person like Wild Wild West, and now his kid is playing another traditional white kid, we all know this kid would not learn karate he would pull out his 9 and bust a cap.
