Ha! Jennifer's Body will break even after all

Yup, not much of a bomb is it? Some people can be ditzes. Like any horror movie, it's not that expensive to make nor is it really expected to make millions.

...because of DVD's, PPV, premium cable, followed by basic cable and possibly even network, it's rare for a movie that was made for under $20M to not (at least) break even - regardless of what they make in theaters.

Anyone know the budget for Surrogates?

horror and comedies usually make a profit since they are cheap to make.

Todd, I heard 80 million.

Only 16 million budget on JB? The advertising alone had to be half of it, talk about low budget film.

You people who are defending Jennifers Body are clueless. Big deal they will make budget on an 18 million dollar movie in 3 weeks. This movie starring any other actress couldnt do worse. All the real hype besides Nerdolescence was Diablo Cody and a chick kiss. This just shows two things.

A. The studios don't think that Megan Fox could make a 50 million dollar movie a success.
B. The studios are right.

It will be in top 10 maybe two more weeks making 3 million at the most....thats a whopping 3 million over budget. Or roughly the amount that Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs made this WEEKEND! Sad. Enjoy the SNL skits, oh wait she couldn't even handle doing those with success.

HA break even huh? Well maybe but not in the theaters. They still need 6 million to break even. That will take 4 more weeks with the drops this movie has.

Pandorum was a really good movie.

Fox herself admitted the movie wasn't a role she was expecting people to praise her acting for nor that it would likely be a massive success. It's a (relatively) cheap horror movie. If it breaks even at the box office then that means everything after (DVD sales, rentals, etc.) is profit. It's a movie tailor made to attract a cult audience. You're deluded if you think this is a failure. Horror films rarely outdraw family movies like Cloudy. Comparing the two doesn't make sense. Comparing it against something like Halloween II is more apt, and this looks to be doing better.

is it possible there lying about the jennifers body budget

Posted By: Guest#9860 (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 12:58 AM

It's nice to see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs doing well, but it's going to need a lot more money to break that 100 million budget. Geez.

some of these commenters are really dumb. If you think that the 18 mil budget Jennifers Body has is counting the promotional budger your dumb. They count the promotional budget separate becasue the film is made in one year but promoted in another year so they can claim it in different fiscal years. So jennifer's body real budget is far more than 18 million probably double that with tv advertisement. plus when it comes out on dvd they will spend more money to promote the dvd release so yeah it is a bomb.
