Looks good, but I don't know why they couldn't still use Robert Englund since it's such a make-up heavy movie, but at least they picked an actor who will do justice to the roll.

Posted By: Assholejunkie (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 01:06 PM

maybe. He actually looks like a burn victim here.

Posted By: whateve (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 01:08 PM

Well well well Idk what to say looks good but Englund is one of my fav actors and will be missed in the film.

Am I the only one disappointed by that???

The movie looks cool, Freddie looks like a douche though.

Posted By: The Anvil (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 01:21 PM

not bad. i'm intruiged. however, new freddy can't hold a candle to the old one. it's nice that he looks more like a burned victim in this one.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... well, it can't be worse than the Friday the 13th remake.

Not at all. I was impressed with the trailer overall, but still a bit iffy on the post fire freddy. I was expecting Hayley to use a more growly voice similar to what he did with Rorshack.

Posted By: Todd Vote (Registered)  on September 28, 2009 at 01:54 PM

Nice! Rorschach looks lika a bad ass Freddy!

Posted By: Yankeeman (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 01:59 PM

This is going to skimp on the violence, bad language and nudity isn't it?

Pity..

At least from what little we hear of Jackie Earle Haley he actually SOUNDS like Freddy...

And am I the only one who thinks Robert Englund will have some sort of cameo?

Posted By: BBM (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 02:03 PM

Ok. I'm a little worried. Freddy here is shouting "I didnt do anything" so Im praying to GOD they dont make him an innocent. Freddy Kruger was a child molester, not an innocent. Im not feeling good about this because it looks like theyre trying to make him sympathetic.

This looks amazing

One word : Why?

Sick to fucking death of all these remakes / re-imagining / reboots.

Fucking lazy bastards.

why does freddy look like hes wearing a potato sack on his head??

Posted By: dogpound7382 (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 02:19 PM

Saw it earlier. Looks intriguing. I also like how they're actually making Freddy's burns look more realistic, and his face almost skeletal. It'll go a long way towards Haley being able to make the character his own and move out of Robert Englund's shadow.

I always felt that an Elm Street movie is always only as good as it's special FX, so I really hope they take this one to the absolute limit.

Posted By: BJC (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 02:23 PM

I was excited, but after seeing the trailer not so much now. I don't like the make-up or his voice. There will be only one Freddy Krueger and that was played by Robert Englund.

Posted By: guest1977 (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 02:24 PM

Looks awesome. I was weary but now I can't wait!

Jesus, I do a better Freddy every Halloween, they should have hired me.

"new freddy can't hold a candle to the old one. "

Fuck old Freddy. Englund is a terrible actor. Haley was absolutely amazing in all of his roles. And most of them are way different in their aspects.

Posted By: Dude (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 03:01 PM

I'll really have to wait and see the whole thing. I like the actor, but the voice is just totally wrong in my head.
Not sure about them reusing old scenes like they've done either, perhaps should have done their own thing. Good look though, hard to screw that up and it's more realistic to boot. Maybe, but it's got a lot to do to win over the older Freddy fans.

Yeah..why???

Is Hollywood that out of ideas? What's that, they're rebooting District 9 for next year?? Maybe those people who did those spoof movies can do Reboot of the Reboot..

Posted By: Guest#2950 (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 03:52 PM

Yeah they shouldn't make him sympathetic. He's a kiddie molester and he never was exactly ashamed about it.

Posted By: Propagandhi (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 04:00 PM

Looks like a rehash of the first movie. Real fucking original. And why does Freddy sound like Saul Tigh from BSG?

Posted By: Guest#1615 (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 04:06 PM

Is it just me or did that last shot of Freddy in the trailer look a whole lot like Mason Verger the dude who cut his face of from Hannibal.

Posted By: Guest#0908 (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 04:32 PM

Are they going to do away with Freddy's past?
It sounded like in the beginning that he was yelling 'Whatever you think I did, I didn't' I hope they aren't making it to where he was innocent and that's why he's doing all this.

Posted By: Ser Drake (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 04:33 PM

Haley is an excellent actor with an Academy nomination so I'm confident he'll do a good job.

As for Freddy's "innocence" that might just be in his mind, self-justifying his revenge.

Didn't see enough of the makeup to tell, but realistic burns creep me out way more than the old Freddy look, but that look is iconic as Jason's Mask so I might end up missing it.

The production looks slick. The old movies looked and felt like B-Movies. The look of the trailer kinda impressed me.

Lastly I saw a couple of young stars that I like so that's good too.

I did like the new Friday the 13th so some of you might just think I'm a moron.

sorry doode, but Robert Englund is Freddy!

It's going to take a lot more than a fancy resume to replace him.

Posted By: Guest#8100 (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 05:02 PM

I for one think this movie looks great. I was skeptical about Haley, but it looks to me like he has taken the character and tweaked it just enough. He sounds menacing, genuinely, rather than jokey as the Freddy character had become in recent flicks. Englund is (and always will be) Freddy, much like Sean Connery IS James Bond to some people. There is still a market for these movies, and Englund is so identifiable, it would be difficult to change the perception back to "serious mindfuck horror classic" from "wacky gruesome fun with jokes and puns and shit!". Englund is classic, but in order to reinvigorate the franchise, the Freddy character needed to be reimagined. I like (what I saw) of the new makeup, looks like a more realisitic, disturbing visual style - a burn victim, not a movie monster. As for the origin scene, have you never seen a guilty criminal beg for forgiveness and plead innocence? Let's not conclusion jump and think that Freddy is being made into a sympathetic character just yet.

looks good. looks alot better than friday the 13th. cant wait to see it when im home from iraq

Looked good except for one thing - did we really need to have the dramatic unzipping of the coat to reveal the classic red / green sweater? It was completely out of place, especially since he was in a place that was just set on fire.

Posted By: Scott B (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 05:18 PM

Cant really get much worse than the originals anyway.

"Fuck old Freddy. Englund is a terrible actor. Haley was absolutely amazing in all of his roles. And most of them are way different in their aspects."

It's this kind of thinking that keeps these reboots/remakes alive. This kid obviously doesn't have a clue. There's only one Freddy Krueger and that's Robert Englund. Enough said.

Trailer looks good. All of the people that are already hating on this movie should at least wait to SEE the movie before criticizing it.

Yes, Reboots and Remakes are becoming tiresome but in certain cases, I think it is a good thing because it can introduce a classic character to a new generation. This is one of those cases.

I'll reserve my judgment until I actually see the movie. We can all sit here and bitch about how they are destroying the legacy of Freddy and how Englund is the only true Freddy and blah blah, but until we actually see the entire movie, our criticisms will have no validity. They might surprise us and give us a movie that would make Freddy proud. We'll have to wait and see.

Gee, you are all experts after seeing 2.06 minutes of a film. Give us all a break - wait until it comes out, see the whole thing and then you have the right to make objective comments.

Posted By: Pepperama (Guest)  on September 28, 2009 at 06:36 PM

Call it marketing 101 people. The studios don't make these reboots exclusively for our demographic, and yes I'm assuming that most of the people who comment on here are between 25-35. A well done reboot will generally capture a good portion of the older audience on nostalgia alone, and then get a good slice of business from a younger crowd who has no attachment the the originals since most of them never saw it. If you don't think this formula works then I'll point you to the nearly $2 billion worldwide gross of the Transformers films. I personally think the trailer was intriguing.

Femember in the original that Freddy was set free due to a warrant error and hence the mob mentality of the parents who demanded justice. Maybe in this why he claims his innocence, even though the parents (and viewers) know that he is guilty. Freddy is a messed up individual to begin with and this might be why he thinks he has "done nothing at all."

I think we should wait to see how Haley handles Freddy. I think he has proven to be a good actor, even when he was playing Kelly Leak and starring in Breaking Away. So I will wait to see it before yearning for Englund. Also, any word if Robert Englund even wanted to do the character anymore? I think he took the character as far as he could with New Nightmare and vs Jason and maybe he felt that it was time for a new actor to see what he could do with such an iconic roll.

However, the Michael Bay attachment might be a red flag...

Are you high? The sets and look of the old films were fantastic and still hold up today. There is no need for this movie to be re-made.

Michael Bay produces? PASS!

Looks visually great, but not sure about the rest. The voice sounds much less demonic and you can't tell anything about the acting from those clips. It's going to be much harder to swallow then the Halloween or Friday remakes due to nature of Freddy. We'll see I guess.

Yawn. I see nothing wrong with the original. No need to see this.

You do that by showing them the actual original material. Why would I need a new movie to become a Nightmare on Elm Street fan when there's seven already there ripe for the picking? It's like trying to get someone into a band. Are you going have them listen to an actual album or some renditions by a bunch of other artists?

Posted By: His Bubbliness (Guest)  on September 29, 2009 at 07:56 AM

yes, and there was only one Joker....Jack Nicholson.

morons.

Haters need to get a life. Why did you watch the trailer if you knew Englund wasn't in it? We all know your all going to see it anyway. Waaaaa his voice is different...grow up. Oh and being a producer means you put the cash up for the movie, Bay has no other input on this film.

No need to remake this. Fuck hollywood

Posted By: gggg (Guest)  on September 29, 2009 at 11:54 PM

Nothing seems original....that is precisely why is it so 'appealing' to most thus far...these are Craven's ideas mixed with modern cinematography techniques.

The only thing that appears original about this movie is the horrible make-up on Freddy. It is truly an upset.

It is equivalent to giving Jason some arm bands and a tennis racket and saying, "Look everyone...its the new and improved Jason Voorhees"
