[Movies] Resident Evil: Afterlife Begins Filming
Posted by Larry Csonka on 09.30.2009

Principle photography for Resident Evil: Afterlife, which will be presented in 3D, has started today in Toronto. Paul W.S. Anderson returns to the franchise, writing the script, and he will direct and produce as well.

Returning to the cast are Milla Jovovich as Alice, Ali Larter as Claire, and Spencer Locke as K-Mart. New to the cast are Prison Break's Wentworth Miller as Claire's brother Chris Redfield, Shawn Roberts (I Love You, Beth Cooper), who is replacing Jason O'Mara in the role of Albert Wesker, Boris Kodjoe (Surrogates) and Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy).

Anderson commented on the project, stating the following…

"Alice's battle with The Umbrella Corporation isn't finished. Last time we saw Alice, she let them know she was coming after them. It's time to settle the score."

Resident Evil: Afterlife is scheduled for a fall 2010 release.

And after so many speculated that Milla wouldn't be in this one, hmm goes to show what they know about marketing.

Why dont they actually follow the videogame storyline instead?

I actually liked all three movies more than i thought i would, but they moved so far away from the games that i have to look at it as it's own entity. "Alice's battle vs Umbrella", well that says what the movies were all about from the start, and i think that is what makes it a little wrong for the gamers...

I keep hope for the upcoming reboot of the series (which i heard would be next year), so they should finish this off with the Alice saga and make something closer to the games (which really were never about the undead taking over the world, but rather small, more or less contained outbreaks and the crack STARS teams that would find out what was going on.)

It was never meant to be Day of the Dead. The creatures were just the backdrop for the story. And that was what was great about it.

NO MORE ALICE! (or at least rename the series Alice vs. Umbrella ;)

Why do I have a feeling that the movie version of Chris Redfieldis going to end up getting bit by a zombie and then Claire has to make a choice to not kill him or something?

Who speculated that? She is married to the director and I never once heard that there was a possibility she would not be back.
Making shit up to seem cool does not make it true, douchbag.
Wow!

Yeeeeeeah the sad part of all this? Its my understanding that after they make this one their doing another RE film which is a remake of the first RE film so that they can reboot the entire movie series. They need to stop or someone needs to bust out the sniper rifle and shotguns.
