A Christmas Carol debuted #1 at the box office this weekend, earning $31 million. The film also had the highest per theater average of any film in the top 10, with $8,417 per theater. The film had a budget of $200 million.
Michael Jackson's This Is It fell one spot to #2 this weekend, earning $14 million and raising its two week total to $57.8 million. The film has been a big success worldwide, as its total worldwide gross is now at $127.3 million.
The Men Who Stare At Goats debuted at #3 this weekend, earning $13.3 million. The film had a budget of $25 million.
The Fourth Kind debuted at #4 this weekend, earning $12.5 million.
Paranormal Activity fell three spots to #5 this weekend, earning $8.6 million and raising its seven week total to $97.4 million. The film had a budget of $15,000.
The Box debuted at #6 this weekend, earning $7.8 million. The film had a budget of $25 million.
Couples Retreat fell three spots to #7 this weekend, earning $6.4 million and raising its five week total to $95.9 million. The film had a budget of $70 million.
Law Abiding Citizen fell five spots to #8, earning $6.1 million and raising its four week total to $60.8 million. The film had a budget of $50 million.
Where The Wild Things Are fell four spots to #9, earning $4.2 million and raising its four week total to $69 million. The film had a budget of $100 million.
Astro Boy fell three spots to round out the top 10 this weekend, earning $2.5 million and raising its three week total to $15 million. The film had a budget of $65 million.

I really liked it. The success of CC will depend on it's legs. It should have pretty good ones, because the crowd I saw it with last night seemed to really enjoy it.

No way - it's a Christmas movie. It'll drop to about $25m next week and then stay there for the next 8 weeks. Then they'll release the DVD next year and it'll sell like crazy.

Don't count it out, never underestimate the christmas fever. while i doubt the movie will make any real money, i can see it making it to the 200 million mark by the new year.

Yeah once you figure total Box Office Revenue, DVD Sales, Toy Merchandising, Disney Christmas Pimping, and etc. Yeah Total bomb...... just like Cloudy With Chance of Meatballs.
