Beats Harry Potter and The Dark Knight...
The Twilight Saga: New Moonset a new record for midnight box office opening last night, earning $26.2 million from midnight showings alone. The previous record was $22.2 million set by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, followed by $18.4 million for The Dark Knight.
The question now is if New Moon will be able to top The Dark Knight's single day record of $67.1 million.

I saw this movie at midnight. It was the greatest movie I've ever seen. I was shaking at some parts, I cried four times for Jacob and Bella. It was so moving and perfect. The new director did such a great job. I'm going again tonight. I loved it. It deserves to set all these records that it is.

It's easier for a girlfriend to talk her boyfriend into seeing a crap movie they have no interest in, since the guy is just trying to get in her pants.
On the other hand, if the girl is full of hatred towards superheroes, they won't go see Dark Knight at midnight opening day no matter how much the guy begs. And a lot of these women exist.

I'd just like to point out that while this makes me scared for the taste of the movie going public, higher gross doesn't mean anything. The Phantom Menace grossed about $400 million more than The Empire Strikes Back, mostly because of the hype. Hype that New Moon is now receiving. In conclusion, even if New Moon breaks more Dark Knight records, we all know what the superior film is.

Um it didn't top it...it's simply the midnight gross...not ENTIRE gross...and no, nothing does have to come along and top it. Titanic has been around for 12 years and Dark Knight didn't even really get close to it

The issue I have with your uninformed post is that The Dark Knight and TITANIC, unlike Twilight, BOTH had really good directors, actors, stories, and special effects/CGI. Just because Twilight can rake in a lot of cash (thanks in large part to teenage girls) DOES NOT mean it's a "good" movie or worthy of any honorable mention in ANY category at the Oscar's or Golden Globe ceremonies.
