[Movies] UPDATED x3: Brittany Murphy Dead At 32
Posted by Ashish on 12.20.2009
Actress passes away...
UPDATE: Ed Winter of the LA County Coroner's Office has told TMZ that foul play is not suspected. Prescription drugs were found at Murphy's home but it is not known what kind.
UPDATE: Brittany Murphy's husband, Simon Monjack, told the hospital staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center that he did not want an autopsy performed on his wife. The LA County Coronor's office plans to do an autopsy anyway though.
It's also worth noting that Murphy's mother told paramedics that Murphy had a history of diabetes. No word if that played a role in her death.
UPDATE:TMZ reports that Murphy's mom found her unconscious in the shower this morning. The paramedics arrived and determined that Murphy was in full cardiac arrest and started administering CPR, which continued on the way to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The LA County Coroner's office will pick up Murphy's body later today and begin their investigation.
ORIGINAL: Brittany Murphy died this morning after going into cardiac arrest. She could not be revived after emergency workers arrived following a 911 call at 8AM from her Los Angeles home. She was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and was pronounced dead on arrival.
Murphy was best known for her roles in Clueless and 8 Mile.

I would be willing to bet anything that they find epic amounts of cocaine in her system. In any event...R.I.P.

Seeing a recent pic of her.... Damn, she had to have an eating disorder. I know not nice to assume but if anything right now I'd bet on that triggering it.
Posted By: PHOENIXZERO (Guest) on December 20, 2009 at 02:55 PM
Sad. Always suspected there were issues there. She looked so frail compared to when she was in Clueless.

I just watched the SNL parody of Murphy Friday afternoon after I downloaded it and wondered what she was up to. I suprised, bummed and weirded out by the timing of it. RIP, Brittany.

"after going into cardiac arrest"
I guess they left out the part where she had a massive drug overdose. You know, cause lots of 32 year olds have heart attacks on a regular basis.

Posted By: Necrophilliac (Guest) on December 20, 2009 at 03:35 PM
Now will they sue the movie companys and TV companys? Will the media blame them for her death? It is most likely drugs givin the age and surcumstace so will they jump all over this and blame them? Oh wait no she wasn't a wrestler it wouldn't make sense to blame the company for a young persons drug related death.
Posted By: hateman (Guest) on December 20, 2009 at 03:36 PM
This is effed up but more than likely she Od'ed. If she didn't OD R.I.P but I have no remorse for people who die due to drugs.

I will always remember her from Boy Meets World. Topanga lost a best friend, we lost a semi-talented actress.

There were suspicions but still, a tragic loss, such a talented woman gone too soon. RIP Brittany.

" guess they left out the part where she had a massive drug overdose. You know, cause lots of 32 year olds have heart attacks on a regular basis."
Doesn't matter if it happens to 'lots'. The fact is, is that it does happen. My brother doesn't do drugs and he was having heart attacks in his 20s.
That said it probably is drugs that did her in, but still should that really matter? Either way, it sucks.

Sad but I knew she didn't lose all that weight by working out and eating healthy. The pressures of being thin in Hollywood is disgusting. At least if she was still fat she would be alive.

I have to totally support hateman. Just imagine if she had recently guest hosted Raw or something Nacny Grace would have a field day. "Vince McMahon kills his guests NOW". Yeah right is Vince McMahon supposed to tuck his superstars into be each night?

That the entertainment biz has had more shocking deaths than wrestling this year is WEIRRRRRD.

that's really sad. loved her in don't say a word and king of the hill.

Clearly the WWE had no idea and the wellness policy didnt help. All jokes aside.....RIP

She was found in the shower? I can only imagine how long the shower was running. Now, when her mom gets the water bill in the mail and it's higher than usual, it'll be another reminder.
Ouch.

Funny, seeing as how a heart attack is NOT cardiac arrest you dipshits...a young woman just died tragically and you have to come outta the wood work to pass judgment on her when you don't even know what the fuck cardiac arrest IS! And that it DOES happen to young people! If drugs were involved, then they were involved...but don't sit up in your tower when you know shit
Prayers should go out to her family in these times...not this bullshit

Posted By: Guest#9612 (Guest) on December 20, 2009 at 06:35 PM
This is very sad. I am a huge fan of Girl Interrupted and Murphy's performance in that was equal to that of Winona Ryder's and Angelina Jolie's (who won an Oscar for it) and ironically I found her death to be very upsetting in that film. I also have her song 'Faster Kill Pussycat' with Paul Oakenfold on my ipod, which shows she had a good voice too.
:(
Posted By: Tim (Guest) on December 20, 2009 at 06:48 PM
Maybe it was really suicide. I know that if I had been on King of the Hill I would have wanted to kill myself.
Posted By: Zingy (Guest) on December 20, 2009 at 06:50 PM
I agree with Daniel...re: the weight issue, regardless of whether or not it had a role here. Something needs to be done NOW, and women need to be re-educated that it's OK to be all shapes and sizes. This is another reason why the media was much better in the '70s-and-further back.
FYI, I still suspect that Trimspa and her weight issues in general couldn't have helped in the role of substances in Anna Nicole Smith's death.
If we didn't learn from what our society did to an icon like Karen Carpenter (so you see, it's not even a sign of the current times, though it's a lot worse now), who will teach us the lesson? Like with the drugs in wrestling? The wellness policy is now there, yes, but still has lots of holes in it.
Are we in denial because we want "hot chicks" (or hosses, as it were?)
Posted By: Guest#7459 (Guest) on December 20, 2009 at 07:22 PM
I saw pictures of her that were taken on Dec 1st. I'm not going to say it was drugs, but she sure didn't look healthy.
Posted By: mogamer (Guest) on December 20, 2009 at 07:22 PM
Maybe Hateman is right, someone SHOULD sue the movie industry. As much as I don't sympathize with the WWE, it's not fair to single just them out.

>UPDATE: Brittany Murphy
's husband, Simon Monjack, told the hospital staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center that he did not want an autopsy performed on his wife. The LA County Coronor's office plans to do an autopsy anyway though.
A person would request this if they were covering up for something illegal...there's enough oddities that foul play can't be ruled out.

------------------
My Mother requested no autopsy be done on my Father due to him not being able to rest in peace once his body had been carved up. We all knew it was wrong to think that way (even her), but grief and death confuse people right after losing someone they lost.
For any who think noone dies at 32 of cardiac arrest I'd suggest you go ti the American Heart Associations webpage. Between 500,000 and 800,000 people die of cardiac arrest in the US each year. There's a 90% fatality rate. 2/3rds the time it's caused by heart disease. Drugs cause heart attacks mostly, rarely cardiac arrest. Not saying drugs wern't involved here just that it would be rare for it to be the cause in this case.

Maybe it was drugs, but I'd be more likely to bet it was NOT psychoactive drugs that did this but diet pills and pain killers. not cocaine or anything like that-- always liked her, but I would bet she took ephedra before it came out that it damages the heart, plus they are saying she became addicted to pain killers after plastic surgery
