[Movies] Nolan Talks Inception, Calls It Bigger Than The Dark Night
Posted by Chris Lansdell on 01.14.2010

Christopher Nolan, who directed a little movie called The Dark Knight, recently did an interview about his upcoming film Inception. The movie has a star-studded cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Ken Watanabe, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger and Michael Caine. The film had been defined as a contemporary sci-fi action film set within the architecture of the mind, but more details came out in the interview. The thriller is now said to involve "corporate espionage by way of dream invasion".

Nolan calls the film "the biggest challenge I've taken on to this point", Nolan said he drew inspiration from the world-spanning James Bond movies of his youth.

"We get to do that here, not just geographically but also in time and dimensions of reality as well. We get to make a movie that's expansive, I suppose you'd say, in four dimensions...We're trying to tell a story on a massive scale, a true blockbuster scale – the biggest I've ever been involved with. We tried to make a very large-scale film with The Dark Knight and with this one we wanted to push that even further."

Inception opens July 16.

Why do I somehow think this will bomb...?

Why is he distracting himself with other films about other characters?

Finish the Batman trilogy, then move on with your life...that's what my mum always told me.

It'll be bigger than 10 Superbowls!

I bet the film will still be shit like the overrated Batman series

Nolan can do no wrong. Following, Memento, The Prestige, Batman 1 & 2; all are incredible and this will be no different.

I don't include Insomnia because he only directed it, and neither he nor his brother Jonathan Nolan wrote the script. It was a pretty good movie on its own merits though.

If Joseph Gordon-Levitt does well in this film, he will play the Joker in Nolan's next Batman film. Mark my words.

I dont think he, or anyone else WANTS a dark knight sequel, anything after that masterpiece would surely be a dissapointment, leave the franchise for a good 5 years then let someone else have a crack at it, This film is what we need from the business, highly original, big time blockbusters

How about, Christopher Nolan can do whatever the fuck he wants? Remember, he doesn't HAVE to do another Batman film if he wanted to. Give the guy some space and let him tackle other projects.
