[Movies] Captain America Is Not Going To Be Alone
Posted by Larry Csonka on 02.08.2010

CHUD recently spoke with Joe Johnson, who will be directing The First Avenger: Captain America, and he confirmed that Captain America will have some help in the film. What help you ask? Johnson confirmed that Captain America's WW2 comrades-in-arms, the Invaders, will appear in the film.

"They'll be in the entire second half."

The Invaders were a Europe-based superhero team that included Namor the Sub-Mariner, the original Human Torch, Union Jack, Toro, Captain America and his sidekick Bucky Barnes. Johnson would not confirm which members would be in the film. Filming for The First Avenger: Captain America begins in late June, in England.

I like how directors use sites like this to gauge interest before they put it on the screen. and how directors like this tell us everything that will be in the movie.

the next thing to come out will be a list of names rumored to be playing Cap. the name that gets the least amount of crap will get the role.

Johnson claims the Invaders will feature six members. Counting Captain and Bucky, that leaves 4.

I bet they can't use Human Torch because Fox still owns FF rights. I know it's not the same Torch, but he is is name and basically IS the same.

Cap, Bucky, Namor, Torch, Union Jack and Spitfire would kickass.

As much as I would love to see the invaders on the big screen. There is almost zero probability of that happening.

I'm guessing they want to make Captain America grounded in reality. And nothing will destroy that more than Namor in his underwear lifting tanks and such.

CHUD.com is a horrible, horrible site. Devin Faraci is a pathetic, bitter man who hates anything that is slightly popular and has no problem calling what's left of his fanbase "idiots" whenever he can.

There filming it in England? They should call it Captain England... otherwise known as Rio Ferdinand now.

...this movie directly leads into a flick featuring a guy in a super robo-suit, a Norse god, and (most likely) a dude who becomes giant and green when he's angry. I don't think total realism is a major concern.

Orton for Namor.

Just ditch the sidekicks, save Bucky, and make Toro the Human Torch.

It takes place during WW2. England's a lot closer to where fighting took place than the US, minus Pearl Harbor.

Well since Will Smith is going to be Capt America.. I think it would be really cool that his son plays Bucky.
