[TV] Super Bowl 44 Becomes Most Watched Show Of All Time
Posted by Larry Csonka on 02.08.2010
Big time…
It's official, last night's Super Bowl 44 is now the most watched TV show of all time. Neilson has estimated that 106.5 million people watched the event, last year's event brought in 98.7 million viewers. The Super Bowl also surpassed the 1983 M*A*S*H finale, which had been a landmark as far as TV ratings go. That show pulled in 105.97 million viewers in an era when there were fewer television sets.

Excellent!
Hopefully now we get a break from the media's hard-on for New Orleans.

the last world cup final had an audience of over a billion people, from a sport played by the world, not just one country

A-fucking-Men.
I like the Saints just fine. But all the BS stories about how Saints fans are the greatest people in the history of the world was just ridiculous.
Congrats to NOLA though.

UEFA Champions League Final (Soccer) draws over a billion worldwide viewers alone. Hell the English Premier League draws 1 billion viewers weekly.
Superbowl is truly 'America's' game cause clearly the rest of the world couldn't give a fuck. I think the outside US audience for the Superbowl is in the range of 10-20 million which is quite lame.

MASH > Superbowl

Didn't this site used to have a football section? Oh, and soccer is boring.

Yeah, but like it's really fair to call it the most watched when the viewers counted double since it was in 3D. Plus the entire plot was stolen from the past 43 superbowls.

What about the NFLs hard on for half time show dinosaur bands? Enough is enough, try to get someone that is under the age of fifty to perform. Someone relevant and good.

Funny, I read that when you are watching the game, you are actually watch a grand total of 11-19 minutes of football (meaning minus the comercials and breaks between plays, commentary). I find that to be funny.
I'm surprised that it was the most watched of all time, since I heard that a lost of people, generally in the East Coast area had over 50,000+ people without power...

Still, the most watched show in world wide history was Elvis: Live from Hawaii. It was watched by 70% of the world, not just the usa, but 70% of the world. Now that's increible.
