[Movies] Quentin Tarantino Talks Slavery Themed Western
Posted by Larry Csonka on 02.15.2010
QT wants to tackle something others are afraid to do…
Quentin Tarantino recently spoke with The New York Daily News, and shared what kind of film he would really like to work on…
"I'd like to do a Western, but rather than set it in Texas, have it in slavery times. With that subject that everybody is afraid to deal with. Let's shine that light on ourselves. You could do a ponderous history lesson of slaves escaping on the Underground Railway. Or you could make a movie that would be exciting. Do it as an adventure. A spaghetti Western that takes place during that time. And I would call it A Southern."
Who knows when QT will get to this, as he has been talking about an Inglourious Basterds prequel, a remake of Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!, Kill Bill 3 and even an adaptation of a Len Deighton spy novel. He'll be a busy man.

How about making something good, with good actors like the people he worked with in Reservoir Dogs,Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown.
Not Uma Thurman,Kurt Russell,Marilyn Mansons ex and Brad Pitt.

Sounds like another opportunity for Quentin to say say N-word as he often does in all his movies.

So, he wants to remake Blazing Saddles?

QT constantly talks about projects that never end up happening. Much like the Vega Bros movie.

QT just thinking aloud. He's slowed down alot (hell he's close to 50) and I doubt he'll do this.

A Tarentino western is a must have.

The fact that you say Brad Pitt and Kurt Russell arent good actors makes you look like a dumbass. They are better than hacks like Travolta, Tim Roth, and Michael Madsen. He needs to put Jackson, Willis, and Pitt together in a movie.

Excuse me but I'm entitled to an opinion and I think Brad Pitt is a mediocre actor with limited screen presence and I only enjoyed Kurt Russell in Breakdown.
You're a dumbass Wells, I'm a genius compared to you.

Kurt Russell is only an average actor but he has great screen presence and that is far more important than being a good actor. Same goes for Travolta. Tim Roth is a solid actor I don't know what the idiot who called him a hack was smoking.

Brad Pitt I can take or leave, but if you honestly think Kurt Russel doesn't have a metric shitton of charisma and stage presence Propagandhi then just stop watching movies because if you can't see it in Kurt Russel then you can't see it in ANYBODY.

You're entitled to think it. You just happen to be very very very wrong. Just compare The Assassination of Jesse James etc to Fight Club to 12 Monkeys. 3 more or less random choices, 3 very different roles and all 3 delivered by Pitt very well, and in very very different ways. That doesn't indicate a limited screen presence.
I would even go out on a limb and suggest that perhaps you have a difficult time getting beyond who he is when he's in a movie.

Sounds pretty terrible on paper, but then so have most of his movies, and they all turned out fantastic.
