[Movies] Will Hugo Weaving Play The Villain In Captain America?
Posted by Larry Csonka on 03.12.2010
Possibly…
Comingsoon.net is reporting that Hugo Weaving (The Lord of the Rings) is reportedly in talks for Captain America. He is negotiating to play the role of the main villain, Red Skull. Marvel is currently looking to cast Steve Rogers/Captain America, with the film expected to hit the big screen on July 22nd, 2011.
That could work pretty well to. I dont think Waltz would be the right fit this Skull needs to be Ray Phines from List just EVILLLLL and Waltz was EVIL at times but Weaving could work

I wonder if he'll bother to see the film when it comes out.

I think that would be awesome. Hugo Weaving was awesome as Agent Smith and pretty much in every role he's ever played

perfect casting, his eyes will play right under the skull, plus his vocal cadence has the right simmering evil tone.

I approve.

Damn...The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, V for Vendetta, Transformers...now possibly Captain America. Nerds are eventually going to have to start praying to this guy.

"Would Hugo Weaving be a good Red Skull?"
FUCK YES.

THIS IS THE GREATEST CASTING NEWS EVER. Except that Hugo Weaving isn't German. If the Red Skull has a British accent I will boycott this movie that I am looking forward to so much.

The real question is, will Hugo even watch the movie after he's done acting in it.

why is it that hugo weaving is known for (The Lord of the Rings)? Wouldn't it make more sense to have "The Matrix" or "V for Vendetta"?

The first time I ever saw Hugo Weaving was in an Australian film called "Pricilla, Queen Of The Desert" where he play a drag queen. Now if he can be convincing at THAT and yet STILL be the badass Agent Smith....then the man can DEFINITELY play The Red Skull.

Fuck yeah.

Weaving's good in everything. This wouldn't be any different.

MaZZacare,
Just out of curiosity, would the "Ray Phines" you're referring to be "Ralph Fiennes"?

I hope he says "Mr. Rogers".
