[Movies] Hard Party Scenes In Question For The Social Network
Posted by Larry Csonka on 08.24.2010

Initially producer Scott Rudin was hesitant about including some hard party scenes in The Social Network, due to the film depicting real people. Word is that Rudin has let some Facebook executives read the script, and has accommodated some requests to change dialogue. But overall no major changes were made. There is also a scene that may be cut, which involves Napster co-founder Sean Parker (played by Justin Timberlake) at a party, giving a speech while two women offer him cocaine from their bare breasts. The scene is said to be not based on a real event. Parker, who was close with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, left the company is 2005 after a cocaine-related arrest. Facebook representative Larry Yu had the following to say on the subject…

"Maybe the movie is a sign that Facebook has become meaningful to people, even if the movie is fiction. What the movie may or may not contain is not what we're focused on. What matters more is building a useful, innovative service that people enjoy using to connect and share."

What matters most to us is having the passion and vision to see Myspace and think, "Me too."

Leave the movie alone. I hate censorship. If you don't like something, don't watch it. If parents are worried about their kids seeing something inappropriate, then they should stop using the TV as a babysitter. End of discussion.
