[Movies] Natalie Portman Generating Oscar Buzz For Black Swan Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 09.02.2010
Critics predict she may win...
Darren Aronofsky's "psychosexual ballet thriller" Black Swan is earning some very good reviews in its premiere at the Venice Film Festival, and some are predicting that Natalie Portman will pay off come award season. London's Daily Telegraph says that her performance elevates her from leading actress to major star, while the Times of London says "Portman is astounding. Awards are sure to follow."
Aronofsky won the Golden Lion in Venice the last time he showed a film there, which was 2008's The Wrestler. Black Swan opens in the Unites States on December 1st, just in time for awards season.

Aronofsky is no doubt of the most consistent recent filmmakers.
Right up there with the Coens brothers, PT Anderson, Van Sant, and Lynch. (sorry, Nolan needs another good film before he's up there.).

She's great. Hope she wins.

Truth: Hasn't Nolan done a decade worth of "consistently good movies", though? He's done six films most viewers find "good" at the very least. That surpasses PTA's 5 and Aronofsky's 4.

But does she get neekid in it?

She has a kissing scene with Mila Kunis. That could potentially be even better.

Actually, there's a RAPE scene between them.

I think a bit early for Oscar buzz as you never know what will come around in December to win over voters (see Sandra Bullock last year).

I hope Inception finally brings Nolan to Oscar Glory. Just gets better with a second and third viewing! And Leonardo DiCaprio seems to get nominated over and over and never wins...this should be his ticket to a win.

@Truth
The same Van Sant behind the Psycho remake and Elephant? GTFO of her with that.
ALL of Nolan's films have been between good and near perfect.
